    Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Civic and Industrial Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Interior Design services with a long history and deep commitment to the commercial sector. We are seeking Architectural Designer to join our buildings practice.

    As a contributor on our professional Buildings team, you will work under the guidance to a Sr. Architectural Designer to assist clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, cutting-edge designs. Your experience ensures that you are familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates and building codes. You will be innovating and creating new prototypes designed with sustainable products with green architecture sensibility as your goals.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Supports project teams in development of design documentation.
    • Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
    • Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
    • Participates in design critiques and pin-ups.
    • Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
    • Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
    • Coordinates building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
    • Assist in reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, preparing site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
    • Coordination of specs with construction documents.
    • Assists in the evaluation and selection of building systems and materials.
    • Attends project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
    • Assists in implementing sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment.
    • Assists in site analysis, research of concept, benchmarks, typology, and precedents.
    Qualifications

    Your Capabilities and Credentials
    • Intermediate knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
    • Intermediate of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards is expected.
    • Intermediate understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
    • Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building program.
    • Ability to develop floor plans, wall sections, and details.
    • Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
    • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of architectural document production.
    • Ability to engage in creative and critical thought. To hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
    • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material. To communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written)
    • Capable of simultaneously supporting one or more Principal's in Charge on multiple projects.
    • Takes direction well, however, proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction.
    • Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
    • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Newforma; Prefer experience with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp.
    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field.
    • Professional Licensure a plus, but not required.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience preferably with a history in industrial, transit or city buildings.
    Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

    Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

    Salary Range(s):
    • SF Area $85,900/CA Other Areas $75,000 - SF Area $124,600/CA Other Areas $108,800 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)
    The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

    Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

    Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
