Overview
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Assistant Controller works closely with the Clow Valve Controller in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget and accounting and/or payroll, actively steps in to perform duties as required by the Controller and in the absence of the Controller.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR:
Sustainability:
Successfully complete month-end financial reporting within established timeline requirements with 100% accuracy.
Employee Experience:
Ensure 100% of inquiries from team members are completed and responded to within the pre-determined timeframe.
Leadership:
Complete monthly one on one's with direct reports 100% of the time.
Responsibilities
CORE FUNCTIONS
Financial Analysis (50%):
Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports, monitors the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
Assists Controller with internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls, as well as establishing system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
Other duties as assigned.Legal & Compliance (30%):
Ensure success of the department by maintaining compliance with all procedure requirements, including industry, federal and state requirements as well as local tax code.
Leadership (20%):
Directly supervises accounts payable, tax and payroll team members or other areas as required.
Motivates and encourages teamwork within the department to ensure goals are met, and to foster a culture of positive work relationships.
Seeks out opportunities to train, develop and mentor Clow Valve team members to cultivate further employee engagement.Qualifications
Technical Skills:
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
Strong MS Excel skills
Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX or D365
Excellent written, verbal & presentation communications skills
Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
Education & Experience:
5+ years previous experience in a professional Accounting/Finance role with progressive responsibility with 1+ year direct/indirect leadership experience required.
Bachelors' degree in Finance/Accounting required, CPA a plus, not required.
Physical Requirements:
Use of fingers required.
Both hand required.
Ability to write and type required.
