- Conducts a comprehensive assessment of clients identifying needs for the development of the treatment plan; authorizes psychiatric hospitalization.
- Coordinate with assigned Behavioral Health Technician and/or Case Manager to update treatment plans based on assessments, information and observations provided by staff members, family members, and professionals.
- Monitors treatment plans and coordinates with assigned Behavioral Health Technician and/or Case Manager to make adjustments when appropriate to obtain desired outcomes.
- Manages treatment referrals and follow-ups with other agencies, resources, and programs.
- Manages treatment plans for clients to include multiple service plans incorporating referrals, follow-up with other agencies, resources, programs, insurance verification and prior authorizations.
- Documents timely and accurately the results of the assessment and treatment plans, reports, progress notes, discharge summaries and other client-related data; provides data for the maintenance of the TOBH database; generates reports to include all clinical, prevention, and educational activities.
- Manages daily crisis meetings.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgement to recommend removal clients into more intense residential treatment facilities, based on evaluation and behavior.
- Follows up on cases to ensure appropriate services are provided.
- Serves as the liaison between Behavioral Health, hospitals and residential treatment programs, including networking and building relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- Reviews individual progress to ensure ongoing improvement and participation in the program.
- Coordinates programs with other Divisions within the Department of Health and Human Services.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the treatment process.
- Refers clients to other agencies and resources as needed.
- Works with therapists in assessing recreational activities the clients therapeutic value and applicability to the program objectives.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned and contributes to a team effort.
- Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of managed care delivery systems and behavioral health licensing standards.

- Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Behavior Health and one year work experience in a clinical setting assessing and treating psychological disorders, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
- Must obtain certifications in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid within the first six months of hire.
- Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background and National FBI check is required to determine suitability for hire, including a 39-month Motor Vehicle Record.
- May require possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license, (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years).
- If required, must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles.
- Based on the department's needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English as a condition of employment.

Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
Under general supervision, coordinates treatment for clients with severe psychological disorders; providing counseling, case management and client support services according to established policies and procedures.
The work is normally reviewed upon completion, with occasional spot checks while in process, to ensure accuracy, timeliness and conformance to established standards; major work tasks are covered by instructions or procedures and unusual situations are referred to a supervisor.
