    Position Overview:

    The Senior System Administrator is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the program's virtualized environments and IT systems.

    This position requires a seasoned professional who can manage and maintain complex systems, ensuring their optimal performance and security.

    A primary responsibility of this position is to work closely with the Prime Contractor's Technical Lead, other engineers, and program team in support of execution of this contract providing IT support, technology elements, and data migration between data centers and the cloud to the Department of Justice (DoJ).

    The Senior System Administrator will work closely with other team members to interface with virtualized management platforms, conduct routine system health checks, validate system settings, and support the overall operating environment for the program.

    The supported environments hosts over 300 Windows VMs on ESXi hosts per data center, with a combination of active-active and active-passive applications between data centers.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform primary administrative functions within the program's virtualized environments, ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IT systems.
    • Interface with virtualized management platforms, such as VMware, to manage and monitor virtual machines and resources.
    • Conduct routine system health checks, validate system settings, and perform necessary maintenance to ensure systems are operating at peak performance.
    • Provide detailed technical information for reporting purposes, including hardware and software specifications, system configurations, and performance metrics.
    • Collaborate with system architects and program management to support a range of tasks, including data storage management, backup strategies, system monitoring, operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, working proactively to prevent potential problems and minimize downtime.
    • Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and best practices, maintaining system security and data integrity.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of related experience, Master's degree with three years of related experience.
    • Extensive experience in managing and maintaining virtualized environments and IT systems in a complex organizational setting.
    • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Broadcom's VMWare.
    • An active Department of Justice (DoJ) (or reciprocal) clearance is preferred but not required for this position, but a willingness to obtain if a requirement is put into place. Public Trust required.
    • Remote support to the program, though on-site meetings with other team members and with customers are required.
    • This position is not anticipated to require much travel, but could be up to 15-25% of the time, more heavily during the base period with reduced travel anticipated in option periods.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Proficient in the administration of virtualized environments, with a strong understanding of virtualization platforms and tools, specifically Broadcom's VMWare versions 6 and 7.
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL or similar.
    • Ability to perform system health checks, validate settings, and conduct routine maintenance with minimal supervision.
    • Skilled in providing detailed technical reporting on system administration tasks, including hardware and software specifications and performance metrics.
    • Experience working with system architects and program management on a variety of IT-related tasks.
    • Knowledge of data storage, backup, monitoring, operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues effectively.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with team members and stakeholders.
    • Commitment to staying current with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in system administration.

    Desired Skills and Abilities:

    • Understanding of and experience with storage systems and data migration projects, between data centers as well as into the cloud.
    • Current certifications in VMWare, Microsoft, or others relevant to the program are a plus.
    • Experience with Red Hat Linux is a plus.
    • Previous experience working with Veeam and Varonis is a plus.
    • Previous experience working on Pure Storage, Cisco switching, and Cisco compute is a plus.
