FIND OUT ABOUT THIS ROLE AND OUR MISSION TO CREATE POSITIVE CHANGE

The Public Relations and Communications Manager helps to advance Plymouth Housing's work to end homelessness and address its causes such as structural racism and historic inequities. We are looking for a candidate with expertise in crisis communication, adept at navigating complex messaging amidst divisive issues, and capable of offering guidance on the latest antiracist language and terminology. We seek an individual committed to continuous learning, who actively adds to their equity toolkit and is willing to confront personal biases and stigmas. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential, including the ability to engage effectively with individuals who have experienced trauma and/or structural oppression.

Plymouth Housing is a non-profit organization with apartment buildings throughout King County helping the most vulnerable members of our community leave homelessness behind forever. At Plymouth, we're not simply trying to get people off the streets. We provide supportive services like case management and health care so that our residents can thrive long-term. As part of our strategic vision, we are building internal behavioral health services and transforming our systems to address rapid growth and the changing needs of residents.

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency and effectiveness of messaging across multiple platforms.
    • Thoughtfully consider media portrayals of staff, leaders, and residents to undo harmful stereotypes related to substance use, criminality, or homelessness.
    • Build trust and relationships with individuals who have lived experience of homelessness and those most impacted by structural racism and other forms of oppression.
    • Take shifts as part of a Crisis Communications Response Team, responsible for writing all-staff communications in crisis situations.

    QUALIFICATIONS
