Job Description:60% Content Development and DeliveryCreates materials and content to meet goals by using a range of media (web, print, digital, video, interactive, etc.), various methods, techniques, and equipment.
Creates and refines designs and imagery for use in communications campaigns from initial concepts/drafts to the finished product.Consults with other project team members to refine project ideas before production.
Gathers all necessary information required to produce thorough and complete artwork and maintains files for output.
Work includes adhering to necessary brand requirements, seeking bids and choosing vendors, transmitting files to printers, and troubleshooting production issues.20% Project Management and ConsultingCoordinates communications and outreach efforts that support recurring and/or special projects and events for Housing & Residence Life programs, services, and initiatives.
Builds and fosters collaborative relationships across the department and university to stay informed and abreast of new initiatives, programs, and services.
Determines stylistic direction for projects and campaigns based on objectives, maintaining the university brand while meeting Housing and Residence Life goals and taking advantage of vendor services/strengths to ensure high-quality products/outcomes.20% Other Related DutiesMaintains appropriate records of creative assets and filing systems as necessary for effective management and oversight of publications and project jobs.

The Communications Specialist in Housing & Residence Life supports the execution of communications and marketing projects for the on-campus housing operation.
The position is responsible for organizing design concepts, web updates, occasional photography and design, and social media content development and delivery.
This position requires strong attention to detail, experience with various types of media, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
This position assists with the execution of all Housing-related materials, using the universitys institutional brand with printed and digital materials, photography, and video production.
It ensures that the work produced by Housing & Residence Life is innovative and effective for a broad range of print and digital media.
The primary focus is website updates, videos, social media, and other communications-related needs of prospective and current residents, their families, and university staff members.
The Communications Specialist reports to the Communications Coordinator.This position requires exceptional creativity in developing strong visual solutions for messaging in projects.
Most work is performed at the Housing & Residence Life Office; however, participation in photography, video shoots, social media campaigns, meetings, workgroups, and training may require presence elsewhere on campus.
Although this is primarily an on-site job, there is a potential for some remote work to be negotiated after the six-month probationary period.
Housing & Residence Life is home to over 5500 students on the Lawrence campus in residence halls, apartments, and cooperative houses known as scholarship halls.
