    Title: Purchasing Manager/Buyer (Retail Flooring & Building Supplies)

    Direct Hire Opportunity

    No Sponsorship

    Remote, but prefer someone who resides in the SouthEast Region (Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Florida)

    Our client, a building supply company with multiple locations in the southeast, is seeking a skilled buyer familiar with procurement of flooring and millwork, possessing a solid understanding of field economics. In this role, you will oversee sourcing and procurement for 5 Building Supply locations, taking the lead in managing partner accounts from start to finish.

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years of experience in buying/merchandise planning related to flooring or building supplies.
    • Demonstrated expertise in vendor sourcing and management within the flooring and building supplies industry.
    • Experience in formulating merchandising strategy (including Pricing, Merchandising, Allocation, Marketing, and Processing) for all assigned accounts.
    • Proven field economics skills for creating deal evaluations in sales strategy.
    • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or supply chain management is highly desirable.
    • Able to travel up to 20% of the time.
    • Soft Skills – Strong drive, sense of responsibility, and adept communication across all organizational levels, capable of articulating financial and merchandising visions and presenting to VP-level stakeholders on a quarterly basis.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide regular updates, distill insights, and enhance engagement levels.
    • Foster revenue-sharing collaborations with new and existing partners.
    • Collaborate with planning teams to develop weekly buying and purchasing strategies.
    • Work closely with allocation, merchandise, and planning teams to ensure smooth transitions prior to finalizing deals.
    • Lead strategic initiatives and offer recommendations during promotional discussions tailored to specific accounts.
    • Boost market visibility and credibility through participation in trade shows, presentations, and conferences in tandem with business development efforts.
    • Act as the key category expert, ensuring merchandising strategies resonate with customer preferences.
    • Coordinate with Finance on financial aspects by working alongside your assistant buyer.
    • Partner with Business Development to identify and capitalize on new account prospects to sustain partner expansion.

    Reporting & Process Improvement Responsibilities:

    • Conduct Quarterly Business Review (QBR) Meetings with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) & Vice President (VP) for designated partners.
    • Collaborate with allocation, pricing, and supply chain functions to assess partner account productivity.
    • Capture and deploy best practices to drive ongoing enhancement of partner management processes.
