    As a Technical Specialist
    • IMD in Motion NEMA Motors, you will be responsible for leading technical support functions for integrated motor drive solutions for ABB customers.
    This product group owns motor/drive products that combine high efficiency synchronous motors with the electrical inverter that controls it.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have a customer facing presence to help resolve customer issues through test and learn and root cause analysis as well as support first time commissioning of customer equipment and startup.

    This position reports toEngineering Mgr IYour responsibilitiesWork independently using solid competency in technologies, tools and methods to solve critical technical problemsCoordinate with relevant functions for resolution of technical issues and support product selection to support customer requirements as defined by sales teamsSupport technical reviews and participate in core technical meetingsSupport customer application testing and validation activities to ensure product meets requirements of the customer applicationProvide technical leadership and solutions during order execution, including participation in important customer meetingsProvide technical support as escalation contact for field technical experts to solve customer issuesDrive the Quality issue resolution process, taking ownership to resolving reported issues and maintain close cross functional cooperationProvide support and technical advice to colleagues in specific areas of expertiseHelp develop processes and tools for efficient issue resolution and documentation of common failures and corrective actionsFollow available quality standards, processes, tools and techniques while contributing towards continuous improvements of processes and toolsYour backgroundAssociate's Degree in Industrial technology, Engineering technology or related technical degree with minimum 4 years of experience in the area of industrial controls, motors, drives or other electromechanical machinery.

    Variable Frequency Drive (VFC) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) knowledge highly recommendedPrevious VFD experience preferredAbility to make decisions, negotiate and influence othersAbility to understand and interpret technical documentsStrong Microsoft Office/computer skillsTravel required (25 to 50 percent)
