    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Demonstrate oral and written communication and teamwork;
    • Demonstrate the ability to recognize and respond to the individual differences of student population and a willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
    • Flexibility for teaching day, evening and/or online classes.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master's Degree in a healthcare field from a regionally accredited college or university;
    • A minimum of two (2) years of clinically based work experience in healthcare;
    • Proven knowledge of contemporary medical/healthcare practices;
    • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written;
    • A Doctorate Degree is preferred;
    • Teaching experience with diverse populations and recent healthcare industry experience are also preferred;
    • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).

    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collaborating with faculty and staff in the IRSC programs in Health Science and with other IRSC program areas;
    • Effectively instructing courses in Medical Terminology;
    • Evaluating student progress through examinations and observations of performance;
    • Actively supporting student success;
    • Participating in department, division, and general faculty meetings;
    • Maintaining professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs;
    • Adhering to all IRSC policies and procedures.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
