Job Summary The Department of Communication Arts seeks applicants for a non-tenure track Lecturer faculty position for the Academic Year beginning August 1, 2024, and ending May 12, 2025. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate's area of expertise in the Dance program as well as provide service to the department, College and University.
The College of the Arts includes the Department of Art & Design, the Department of Music, and the Department of Communication Arts (Communication, Mass Media, Theatre & Dance, and MAIC).
The College of the Arts is also home to the award-winning Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and the Peach State Summer Theatre, designated as the Official Musical Theatre of the State of Georgia.
With ~80 faculty/staff members and approximately 700 students, the College offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Teaching 4-5 undergraduate courses per semester (Fall and Spring dependent upon contact hours) and providing service to the department, college and University.
Additional responsibilities include creating concert dance choreography and mentoring students in the collaborative rehearsal process. Introduction to Dance (Dance Appreciation)Dance movement courses in at least two areas of proficiency (such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, world dance forms, and/or social dance)
Required Qualifications Master's degree in Dance or closely related field completed by appointment date 8/1/2024
Terminal degree in Dance (MFA in Dance or an appropriately related field and/or extensive experience in professional dance performance/choreography)
Qualifications/experience teaching Dance History and Pedagogy
documentation of academic credentials
pre-employment drug testing
