    INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN I: $20.65 PER HOUR $42,952.00 YEARLY

    INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN II: $23.64 PER HOUR $49,171.20 YEARLY

    INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN III: $25.30 PER HOUR $52,624.00 YEARLY

    MASTER INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN: $27.07 PER HOUR $56,305.60 YEARLY

    JOB SUMMARY: This is an entry-level training position for basic knowledge of an Installation Technician. Certain training milestones must be met before being qualified for a higher position. This position will learn from on-the-job training and classroom instruction in the processes of piping natural gas for new construction existing facilities as well as serving natural gas appliances. Assists in the installation and servicing of natural gas appliances and ensures appliances are operational and safe before leaving the premises.
    Incumbent has up to 18 months to accomplish all training milestones required of this position to include all Operator Qualification requirements.

    Incumbents in this position will be held to the District's Gold Standard for Customer Service.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    THIS IS A TRAINING POSITION. TRAINING MILESTONES MUST BE MET BEFORE CONSIDERED QUALIFIED FOR THE NEXT LEVEL OF THIS POSITION.


    1. Assists in the installation of natural gas piping for new construction sites and for existing facilities.
    2. Assists in installing, repairing and servicing gas appliances.
    3. Conducts pressure checks to ensure new piping is free of leaks.
    4. Assists in servicing and repairs gas burning appliances. Analyzes service problems to determine the malfunction of commercial, industrial and domestic systems. Dismantles, repairs and reassembles units or parts as necessary. Tests operational performance for compliance with specifications and applicable codes. Accurately diagnoses and corrects both internal and external component failures.
    5. Assists in conducting routine checks of all gas appliances before leaving premises to ensure all appliances and piping are operational and safe.
    6. Assists in responding to various customer complains including gas leaks, carbon monoxide, low pressure and/or abnormal gas consumption. Assists in determining the cause and repairing or replacing leaks, defective parts, meters, regulators and connect or disconnect service. Assists in performing emergency repairs to service lines.
    7. Maintains and repairs meter sets.
    8. Maintains high-pressure sets.
    9. Processes the "cut off" list in a timely manner.
    10. Generates selling opportunities by creating leads and proposals to create sustainability within the District.
    11. Installs, Maintains and programs automated meter reading (AMR) units.
    12. Reads meters, works with meter readers and does check reads and other work order types where readings will be needed.
    13. Completes required paperwork to document materials used and completion of work orders.
    14. Safety and responsibly operates the District's automotive vehicles. Maintains vehicles used through appropriate operator maintenance and keeps vehicles clean and neat at all times.
    15. Maintains control of inventory items obtained from stock or carried on truck.
    16. Maintains tools and equipment in a clean and workable condition.
    17. Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    High School plus zero to two years of experience.

    ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:

    2. Displayed skills to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, and internal/external customers within a team environment.
    3. Ability to safely operate company supplied vehicles and equipment.
    4. Knowledge of and performance of relevant safety procedures associated with natural gas and natural gas appliances.
    5. Interpersonal skills to deal with various personality types in less than ideal circumstances.
    6. Ability to schedule leave time wisely and efficiently. Uses the leave calendar for scheduled doctor's appointments and other requested leave including annual and personal leave.
    7. This position requires knowledge and task evaluation as determined by Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration rule CFR 49, Part 192; Subpart N: Operator Qualifications (OQ).

    TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
    1. Ability to use a computer and skills to process computer data and generate reports.
    2. Capacity to develop mechanical, plumbing, electrical and pipefitting skills to complete assigned tasks relative to equipment and systems in a safe and efficient manner.
    3. Skills to perform a variety of troubleshooting, testing and repairs on multi-technology /brand natural gas equipment, appliances and/or systems.
    4. Knowledge of District O&M procedures, local building codes, Southern Building Code, FHA and VA requirements.
    5. Ability to read and understand blueprints and maps.
    6. Capacity to perform multiple tasks with limited supervision in often confining, cramped spaces.

    OTHER FACTORS:
    1. Must possess and maintain valid Florida driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the District and its insurers.
    2. Must be appropriately dressed in a clean and neat District authorized uniform during work hours.
    3. Regular attendance is essential. May be required to work other than normal work schedule. May be required to work overtime or extended hours with little to no notice.
    4. Physical Effort: Requires bending, stooping, crawling, climbing and moderate lifting. Must be capable of working from ladders and elevated areas.
    5. Working Conditions and Hazards: Works inside and outside. Exposed to rain and seasonal weather extremes. Exposed to fires, toxic fumes, electrical shocks from high voltage, and dog bites. Must be able to work with power tools and other hazardous equipment. Confined spaces including attics and crawl spaces.
    6. DRUG TESTING FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS: Employees in this classification will be subject to undergo testing for illegal drugs in accordance with DOT Pipeline Safety Regulations, Code of Federal Regulation, Title CFR), Part 199.
