    Senior Estimator

    Location: Main office - Alpharetta, GA. 40-hour work week. Office hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

    Job Type: Full-Time, with a 90-day probationary period.

    About Sapphire Companies LLC: Sapphire Companies LLC is a leading electrical contractor specializing in grocery retail, notably known for its work with top-tier clients like Walmart and Publix. Operating across 20 states, primarily in the Southeast and Midwest, the company focuses on both remodeling initiatives and expansive new construction efforts.

    Position Overview: The Estimator III is the most senior level beneath the chief Estimator, capable of working independently, as well as providing training and technical support to Estimator I and Estimator II. This position handles a broad range of Retail/Grocery projects, allowing for autonomous management of estimation, direct client interactions, and vendor coordination. A significant aspect of the role is the emphasis on adeptly handling complex change orders and preparing bids with more autonomy.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Project Analysis and Estimation:

    Primarily focused on commercial retail and grocery renovation/remodel project estimations without assistance.

    Ability to autonomously accept an ITB package and take it through to accurate electrical bid.

    Comfortability in working on a set of construction drawings and specifications.

    Use Accubid for cost estimations and submit bids independently (without requirement of Chief Estimator review).

    Coordinate with specified vendors based on construction documents. Coordination with Sapphire Bid Coordinator is also required.

    Address bid-specific client inquiries.

    • Bid Preparation and Client Interaction:

    Assemble and finalize bid packages for assigned projects, as found on the Bid Tracker, under the guidance of the Bid Coordinator and as assigned by the Chief Estimator.

    Respond to bid-specific questions from clients once the bid has been submitted.

    For awarding of projects and contract negotiations, defer to the Chief Estimator.

    • Collaboration and Support:

    - Engage in "hand-off" meetings between preconstruction and operations. Offering insights into project constraints and cost implications for assigned projects with limited assistance of the Chief Estimator.

    Ability to create project budgets for entry into ComputerEase once projects have been awarded.

    Coordinate with Estimator I's on larger estimates where assistance is needed/required.

    Assist in training new Estimator I as these roles are filled, training is led by Chief Estimator.

    Attend weekly preconstruction meetings to discuss workload, general issues, bid process changes, and awarded project pipeline.

    Attend specialized training sessions led by Chief Estimator when required.

    Support the Chief Estimator as needed with additional duties including but not limited to:

    Reviewing Estimator I & Estimator II bids and Change orders/CCDs.

    Assist Estimator I and Estimator II with bids and change orders when required. Answering software-related estimating questions.

    Assisting with general contractor inquiries regarding both upcoming and previously submitted bids.

    Assist with answering estimating related questions from the operations teams.

    Assisting Estimator I in communicating with clients, regardless of whether the project was directly handled by Estimator II.

    • Change Order & CCD Management:

    Collaborate with operations on change orders/CCDs, demonstrating resourcefulness and proactiveness. Among the key attributes setting the Estimator II apart from Estimator I is this nuanced problem-solving ability as well as the ability to write complex change orders/CCDs with minimal assistance.

    Reporting Structure:

    • This role reports directly to the Chief Estimator.

    Additional Work Expectations:

    • Occasional travel may be necessitated for purposes including, but not limited to; pre-bid site evaluations, GC collaboration, team building or training sessions at alternate Sapphire Companies office locations. Travel commitments are estimated to be below 10% of the role's responsibilities.

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of field electrical experience.
    • 4+ years of estimating experience, with familiarity in Accubid Enterprise.
    • Mastery in deciphering construction plans.
    • Expertise in diverse project estimation.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
    • Proficient in Smartsheets.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills.
