    Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

    The Certified Nursing Assistant reports to the Director of Nursing, administers and facilitates patient care for patients in the Veterans Program, and works in conjunction with facility Medical Director and other interdisciplinary personnel. Certified Nursing Assistants are responsible for many patients care tasks to ensure that each patient receives the comprehensive and personalized care they need.

    Job Duties: Certified Nursing Assistant
    • Grooming and assisting in bathing patients with low mobility
    • Preparing each patient's room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment, and bathroom needs
    • Helping patients eat and assisting nurses with getting patients together for medication administration
    • Making sure patients have regular meals along with keeping times of medication administration
    • Monitoring vitals and patient behavior and reporting them to the nursing and medical staff
    • Assisting patients with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bed or bed to wheelchair
    • Turning or adjusting patients in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort
    • Exercising patients by helping them walk
    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications:
    • Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of CA
    • Experience working in mental health/substance abuse
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy, and compassion
    • Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking, and reading comprehension
    • Good collaboration and teamwork skills
    • Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
    • Keen attention to detail
    • In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
    • Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
    • Comfortable working with specific populations of patients, including elderly patients and those with special needs
    • Physical strength and stamina
    Physical Demands:

    Must have reasonable ability to do the following:

    • Stand, walk and sit during assigned shifts hours.

    • Have the ability to manually handle patient belongings with gloved hands.

    • Be able to manually assess a patient as part of a physical exam.

    • Reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

    • Speak and have access to the special senses within normal limits (hear, taste, smell, etc.)
    as it applies to patient care.

    • Must be capable of lifting 20 pounds.
