    Description: We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer in our Chesapeake, VA office. We currently have numerous design and inspection assignments for transportation infrastructure related projects within the region.

    Responsibilities
    • Performs mechanical design & inspection for movable bridges and other heavy movable structures
    • Prepares contract plans, special provisions, engineer's estimates, inspection reports, and technical memorandums
    • Reviews drawings and recommends necessary changes
    • Research design options and document findings for Project Managers
    • Job duties will involve a mixture of office and field work


    Requirements:
    • BS or BE in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-EAC Accredited Degree)
    • Virginia PE License (preferred) or ability to obtain within two years
    • A minimum of five years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
    • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD required, Microstation preferred)
    • Experience with Mathcad computational software
    • Willingness to travel for short term assignments on an as-needed basis
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a design team
    • Must be a highly motivated individual who is detail and goal-oriented, a self-starter, and proficient in both verbal and written communications
