    Director of Carrier Management

    • Manage all relationships with Carriers
    Position has a range of $100,000 - $150,000 Plus Commissions

    **Can be based out of Raleigh, NC or Jacksonville, FL

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategy Development

    •Clearly communicate strategic objectives and performance metrics. Ensure daily/weekly stand ups are executed with quality and relevant information is shared in a timely manner
    •Drive adoption and participate in strategic carrier procurement strategies (i.e. Parade, drop trailer, procurement, RFP bid process, etc.) with dispatch and business development for quality coverage options

    •Utilize analytics to drive decision making, manage performance and improve quality; promote usage across the organization to ensure appropriate action is being taken in response to results
    •Develop and maintain a broad understanding of products, services, resources, and leverage those appropriately to optimize client solutions; lead by example to build a deep understanding of technology and how adoption drives the achievement of organizational goals

    •Stay apprised of industry trends and market drivers related to modes, products, services, pricing, or verticals; serve as subject matter expert in communicating with various internal stakeholders
    •Champion organizational transformation; work closely with next level leader to drive effective change management and employee adoption of new tools, technology, processes, or expectations

    •Contribute to a positive culture by setting and communicating individual and team expectations for ethical behavior and adherence to internal trading rules

    •Participate in and/or lead functional projects as needed

    Relationship Management

    •Accountable for supporting, implementing, and reviewing carrier relationship strategies including fostering, retaining, and growing strategic carrier relationships

    •Create and maintain positive relationships with internal partners and customer-facing teams to develop capacity strategies, manage issues, develop high level client relationships, participate in customer presentations/communications, and ensure quality execution

    •Stay apprised of business needs and changes, business opportunities and customer expectations
    •Partner on problem resolution and work together on continuous improvement

    •Take accountability to ensure capacity team members are well-informed of business expectations and well-positioned to deliver

    •Keep internal partners apprised of capacity strategies, initiatives, and changes

    General

    •Serve as an ambassador responsible for establishing and maintaining carrier relationships
    •Represent the Company within the industry at / for relevant conferences, shows / events, industry functions, seminars, trade publications, etc

    •Participate in other special projects when needed

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

    •Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build / grow / maintain / nurture strong, long-term relationships with any level within a customer's organization

    •Strong knowledge of temperature-controlled, dry freight, and specialty products in the logistics industry along with relevant purchasing processes, policies, and procedures

    •Exceptional drive to pursue and ability to close new business from a variety of shippers / geographies

    •Excellent verbal and written communication skills - including the ability to listen effectively - and the ability to think / respond / react appropriately in fluid situations

    •Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work across teams to develop solutions that create value for our customer & carrier partners

    •Excellent organizational skills and ability to be proactive and work independently - as well as to be highly detailed in preparation and thorough in execution & follow-up regarding customer interactions
    •Excellent proficiency in using Excel & PowerPoint, MercuryGate, Parade

    •Frequent travel required

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    •Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture or related-field preferred
    •7 or more years' sales experience in the trucking / freight management industry to include temperature-controlled, dry and specialty products in the transportation logistics industry required (including customer & carrier negotiation and temperature-controlled logistics)
