    Description

    Position supports the principal by exercising leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills that promote the educational development of each student, the professional development of each staff member, and the overall performance of the program.

    Essential Duties

    • Work in collaboration with the Executive Director to facilitate the development and mentoring of instructional staff.
    • At the suggestion of the Executive Director, supervise, monitor, observe, and evaluate designated teachers and staff in terms of their performance and responsibilities in the achievement of program goals and priorities.
    • Serve as an instructional coach for assigned instructional staff.
    • Partner with the Executive Director of the program, to cultivate a collaborative working environment that encourages communication, innovation, and refinement of the best instructional practices.
    • Organize and facilitate instructional related meetings.
    • Assist the Executive Director of the program with the development of short-term and long-term staff development plans.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs as it relates to preparing and supporting online teachers.
    • Review monthly progress reports and other ancillary data to identify areas of concern in regard to student and teacher performance.
    • Maintain visibility in his/her program community and be recognized as an educational leader responsible for effective teaching, student achievement, and a safe and healthy environment.
    • Provide regular feedback to the Executive Director regarding the performance of instructional staff and progress of students.
    • Work in collaboration with the Director to monitor departmental compliance with accountability measures.
    • Manage, control, direct, and supervise assigned direct reports.
    • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others
    • Maintain CANVAS platform and educational programs that include (but are not limited to) progress monitoring programs.
    Other Duties

    Performs any other related duties as assigned by the executive director or other appropriate administrator.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)
    1. Master's degree in educational administration from an accredited university that included graduate study in school leadership and curriculum development.
    2. Valid South Carolina principal's certificate.
    3. Five years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience at the middle, or secondary level;
    4. Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken interpersonal communication.
    5. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology.
    6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable.
    Physical Requirements

    • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus;
    • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
    • Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry;
    • Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
    • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
    • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.
