    The Pennington School's Edmund V. Cervone Center for Learning is looking for an individual to fill the position of Compensatory Skills (CS) teacher for the academic year.

    The Center for Learning is a comprehensive program for students with diagnosed learning disabilities within a traditional college preparatory setting. CS teachers work on a one-to-one basis with students both to help them build on their academic strengths and to minimize the impact of skills weaknesses associated with their specific learning difficulties. A full-time teaching position is usually composed of five to six classes as well as additional responsibilities such as supervising clubs, coaching sports, and other duties. In addition, full-time teachers are required to attend certain weekend and evening school events.

    Requirements for the position of CS teacher include a desire to work with middle- and high-school-age students with a focus on individual needs; a belief that all students can learn if given appropriate services, supports and accommodations; and a commitment to continued professional development. An understanding of the specific needs of students with learning disabilities is essential, as well as a background in education and experience working with students with disabilities. The Pennington School is an independent school and, as such, does not require certification as a requisite for obtaining a faculty position. At minimum, applicants should have a bachelor's degree.

    This position is full-time and exempt from overtime, and eligible for all benefits afforded to full-time Pennington School employees.
