Job Description
Conducts mission/program specific real time spacecraft/satellite flight operations during readiness, execution, evaluation, and operational phases.
Assists in developing detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, and command and control of on-orbit satellites.
Provides technical direction for on orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support.
Provides failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites via telemetry data. Utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks and recommends improvements. Analyzes and validates software performance.Perform SBIRS CLS Operations Satellite System Engineer (SSE) duties.
The SSEs assist the Space Force operators in all spacecraft bus and payload operations by planning and scheduling mission critical events, assisting in the generation and maintenance of command plans, technical advice and assistance during anomaly resolution activities, documenting and trending system performance and providing recommendations for optimal system operational methods and techniques.
They assist the Space Force operators during spacecraft commanding, ensuring proper execution of command plans, scheduling constellation and ground system activities, participating in anomaly resolution activities, launch and early orbit activities, and documenting system performance.
The SSEs monitor the SBIRS satellite constellation health and performance by evaluating telemetry alarms and warnings, monitoring commanding and responding to satellite anomalies when required.
Also, local travel to MCSB to perform these operations support duties as required (estimated 2 weeks per year per).Basic Qualifications
Must be enrolled in (or have completed) an acceptable degree program (major or minor) including science and technology related disciplines such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security or related discipline.
Experience as a Systems Engineer or operator in SBIRS satellite systems can be accepted in lieu of a STEM degree.
As this is a critical position in a restricted area, the following criteria are required:Normal color vision, normal visual acuity
Physically able to walk unassisted 1⁄2 mile
Prioritization /Multi-tasking
Well-spoken, Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are required.
Proficient in MS Office
Vision corrected to ~20/20 (glasses can be the correction)
No unaddressed sleep or waking disorders, or other physical issues affecting sleep
No significant hearing loss
Ability to work shifts of 12-24 hour duration, as needed
No medical requirements that could feasibly become an emergency on a regular basis
Reliable transportation and reasonable distance to Buckley SFB (1.5 hours max, within Central Front Range)
Not the sole care provider for any parents, dependents, pets, livestock, or otherwise
No outside employment requiring schedule deconfliction (Military reserves excepted)
Not averse to rotating shiftwork for long periods of time (months to years) without expectation of a "day job"
Ability to obtain and hold a TS/SSBI required.
Desired skills
Satellite Operations Experience. Launch operations support highly desired. Demonstrated ability to rapidly resolve critical/complex technical or operational problems, and/or space system anomalies.
Proficiency in one of the related:
C, C++, C#, Java, XML, Windows, .NET, and UNIX, PERL, system software and scripting development, Java programming, web development, System analysis, System design, Software Design, Software Development and Implementation, Software Test or Cyber Security.
Best candidates will have a background in classified satellite programs.

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.

Colorado Pay Statement
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $55,300 - $106,000 .

Non-represented full-time employees:

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.This position is incentive plan eligible.
