    NETWORK ENGINEER – TEMPORARY

    At SpaceX we're leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world's largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 2M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We've only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink's potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class engineers to help maximize Starlink's utility for communities and businesses around the globe.

    As an engineer here, you will be a critical part of the Starlink network engineering team and help build, secure and operate a network with global visibility and scale. Engineers on this team manage network deployments and related configurations within the Starlink network and have a significant impact on the service delivered to our customers around the world.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and Deploy Starlink Points of Presence at the hardware level (rack, stack, cable, labels, etc.), for POP located in the USA and overseas. .
  • Responsible for the Cross-Connect ordering and execution of all the Ground connectivity (gateways and POP).
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and network engineers to create or improve Starlink deployment processes.
  • Assist in updating system configuration and firmware
  • Automation for network devices, operational and deployment tools

    POSITION DETAILS:

    This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.

  • LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 months
  • LOCATION: Redmond, WA
  • This is a temporary position that could potentially lead to a full-time role depending on the needs and priorities of the business.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of professional experience with the build-out and deployment (Rack & Stack) of hardware at datacenters
  • Layer-1 experience (Example: transport, DWDM, optics, circuit troubleshooting, activations, etc.)
  • Experience ordering and supervising the execution of cross-connect with datacenters (Equinix, CoreSite, Digital Realty, etc.)
  • Experience communicating with datacenters remote hands
  • Experience bringing up switches, routers, firewalls & servers

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Service provider networks including but not limited to:

  • Connectivity (Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6 and MPLS)
  • Routing (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS)
  • Internet services (DNS, DHCP, NTP)

  • Background on network automation
  • Experience creating documentation and procedures
  • Cisco, Juniper, Arista or other industry certifications

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel domestically and globally when needed (50%Travel)
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

    Pay Range:

    Network Engineer/Level I: $120, $145,000.00/per year

    Network Engineer/Level II: $140, $170,000.00/per year

    Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

    Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for potential discretionary bonuses.
