    A tech company in New York City is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their staff as their new State & Local Tax Manager. In this role, the State & Local Tax Manager will be responsible for providing multi-state expertise for state and local taxes, including income, franchise property and sales and use.

    Responsibilities:

    The State & Local Tax Manager will:

    • Maintain and update state income tax nexus analysis by entity
    • Prepare detailed state apportionment workpapers, including analysis of sourcing by revenue stream
    • Review and update state tax adjustments on a quarterly and annual basis
    • Review state income tax returns and monitor the filing of returns, extensions, and payments to ensure they are accurately and timely filed
    • Work directly with external income tax preparer to address queries and manage requests for information
    • Prepare/review state estimated tax payments and extension calculations and manage payment process
    • Coordinate with Treasury to make sure the Company is set up to make EFT payments to state taxing authorities
    • Support the income tax compliance processes and process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, accuracy, and completion time
    • Prepare and aggregate information for forecasted state effective tax rate for interim tax accounting and reporting
    • Prepare the data and tax adjustments for the annual state and local income tax provision
    • Assist with quarterly and year-end state close processes
    • Assist in state tax planning and special projects
    Qualifications:
    • 5+ years of related Tax experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, and/or a related field
    • Experience with a publicly traded company and/or national public accounting firm
    • Solid analytical and problem solving skills
    • Great interpersonal skills
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Highly organized
    Desired Skills:
    • Master's Degree in Taxation and/or MBA
    • CPA or parts passed
    • Working knowledge of Hyperion. Hyperion Planning, JD Edwards and Corp Tax
    • Microsoft Excel proficient
