RESPONSIBLE FOR:


Functions as a first assistant during operativeand other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials,privileges, experience, education and competency verification.
Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case.

At time facilitates theoperative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providingthe required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in therole of scrub tech.

Maintains the sterile field and anticipates andresponds to the needs of the surgical team.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATIONREQUIRED:


Graduate from a surgical technologistprogram.

Requires completion of didactic and clinical components ofthe First Assistant program or competency verified by a sponsoringPiedmont surgeon during the orientationperiod.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:


Three years perioperative servicesexperience.

MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:


Certified surgical technologist (CST).
Basic Life Support (BLS)certification.

ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:


Certified surgical assistant(CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgicalassistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certificationpreferred
