    Bearings Bike Works Program SpecialistWould you like to be part of the team working daily to help students develop the skills they need to succeed in adulthood? Bearings is looking for a non-profit program professional to join our team and lead and support our programs delivering impact to our community.

    This is a role for someone that cares deeply about Atlantas youth, desiring to provide life-on-life mentorship and encouragement through Bearings unique hands-on bike building programming.


    JOB SUMMARY:


    Bearings Bike Works is an innovative youth development organization that uses bikes to help students develop the skills they need to successfully transition into adulthood.

    Our signature program is Skills for Life, a drop-in after school program for neighborhood youth where students learn how to build and fix bikes.

    We believe students are capable of great things.

    Therefore, we hold the bar high and encourage and support kids and teens as they master skills at Bearings, empowering them to take ownership of their lives with character and purpose.

    Bearings is looking for an energetic, passionate person to join our team and play a vital role in supporting student learning through Bearings programming.

    The Program Specialist is a key member of the Bearings Team and serves as the operational backbone of Skills for Life and on the street connector, consistently looking for ways to let community members know about our program offerings and getting kids into the shop.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Program Design Implementation:
    Manage and continuously improve Bearings Best-in
    • Class Skills for Life drop in after school program, building relationships with students and families and delivering high quality enrichment programmingGuide and advance top notch records for program evaluation purposes and meet objectives that align with Bearings mission and vision for serving the communityCollaboratively work with other Bearings team members to deliver top notch, impactful programming through ongoing program design & developmentExecute and create great documentation of program processes and procedures for future impactInspire Skills for Life participants to join other Bearings programsParticipant Outreach & Support:Build relationships with program participants and parents to ensure families feel welcome, supported, and excited to attend Bearings programsSupport students as they develop skills, encouraging them in their growth and progressMaintain great relationships with program volunteers as they participate in program delivery and impactBuild and maintain relationships within the broader community, on the streets and with other community partners so that our new families can learn about Bearings program offeringsQUALIFICATIONSA ministry minded heart for othersStrong verbal and written communication skills and professional maturityExperience in working/volunteering with youthA warm and positive affirmer of others.
    Quick to support and inspire people who need energy or reassurance.
    Excellent interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with youth, staff, volunteers, and parents in a positive, professional manner.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelors Degree or equivalentExperience in Organizational Development, Education, Social Work, or Non-profit or related field1-3 years non-profit experience; including 1 year of Project Management

    Extra Credit Qualification:

    Specific experience in youth program design and executionOTHER NOTESIn order to serve our students well, the work schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday 9:30am-6:45pm and 9am-5pm Fridays.

    Specific programs or events may occasionally operate outside of weekly scheduled hours. In these few cases, the successful candidate will be able to take a regularly scheduled workday off.#J-18808-Ljbffr
