- Executes assignments requiring a basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work
- Work on projects that typically include bridges (prestressed concrete and steel plate girder), retaining walls, box culverts, and other transportation-related structures
- Executes a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of reports, investigatory studies, engineering design calculations, and detailing of structural elements
- Translates design criteria and standard details into a completed design
- Prepares designs in compliance with company design procedures as well as client standards and code requirements
- Is proactive in clarifying directions on project design issues, and proceeds on projects with a clear understanding of schedule and budget
- Completes tasks on or before the scheduled amount of time and within budget
- Attends project team meetings
- Maintains frequent communication with project team members to verify design requirements and identify problems that arise
- Seeks assistance from others when assigned tasks fall outside of knowledge or experience
- Performs field-related tasks to gain field experience, broaden understanding of construction techniques, and develop practical engineering skills, in order to enhance one's engineering design abilities
- Candidates shall possess a BS or MS degree in civil engineering
- 5+ years of progressive technical experience, diversified knowledge preferred
- Civil engineer with bridge design and transportation engineering focus
- EIT certification required
- Prior experience in consulting engineering or construction industry, PennDOT experience a plus
- Ability to take responsibility for technical work content
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
