    Summary of Job Duties:

    The Plain Language Writer will be responsible for developing, editing, testing, and implementing health education materials for use by patients and community members. They will work with CHL program staff, other UAMS departments, external partners and clients, and patient and community representatives in achieving those goals. The writer will assist in the development and delivery of other CHL communications (e.g., for purposes of business development and teaching). This position reports to the CHL Director.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in health-, writing-, or communications-related field with at least 2 years of experience writing.

    Additional minimum requirements:

    Plain language training to be completed during first 6 months of employment with documented mastery of skills according to rubric

    Excellent technical writing skills (testing required) which demonstrate mastery of grammar and usage along with ability to organize and convey complex scientific information

    Excellent verbal communication skills

    Ability to self-manage workload and organize projects and tasks for timely completion

    Proficiency with using Microsoft operating system and Microsoft 365 (or Office) software and experience in using Adobe Acrobat DC and other Adobe products.

    Completion of CITI training within first 2 months of employment

    Occasional attendance at after-hours events

    Some in-state travel is required, out-of-state travel occasionally (no more than 1 time per year)
