ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT
Golden High School (GHS) is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains minutes from downtown Denver. We have a rich history and tradition dating back to 1873. We have worked hard to partner with our community, alumni association, local business and higher education to provide support and positive experiences for our students. GHS has received a "Performance" rating by the Colorado Department of Education, and we have been expanding AP course offerings every year, while at the same time keeping the comprehensive high school programs our community values. We offer courses in STEM, Culinary Arts, Performing and Visual Arts, and Experiential Education. We have great athletic and activities programs for all levels of student interest.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY Provide leadership for a comprehensive program of activities and athletics. Manage all athletic programs for the senior high school in collaboration with principal and coaches. Identify and assess program needs on an annual basis, and implement changes. Coordinate recruitment and hiring of all coaches and support team related to athletic programs. Evaluate programs, coaches and related support personnel. Coordinate all scheduling, transportation, required contracts, payments. Oversee participant eligibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate all athletic programs for grades 9-12 in collaboration with the principal and coaches to ascertain programmatic needs on an annual basis, as well as prior to each season to ensure consistency of programs.
Initiate the recruitment and selection of coaches and makes employment recommendations to the building principal.
Supervise and evaluate all coaches and support staff at a high school.
Schedule all school athletic contests, issues contracts for contests, and maintains the proper and necessary records.
Ensure officials are scheduled and contracts are issued for all high school contests. Work with the District Athletic Office to maintain an active file of officials under contract and oversees payment of officials following the contract.
Arrange transportation for all away high school contests.
Verify all athletic eligibility as appropriate with the Jeffco District Athletic Director and/or Jeffco League Waiver Committee. Supervise the preparation and accuracy of weekly athlete academic eligibility.
Supervise high school athletic contests and act as the host to officials and visiting schools. Oversee the supervision of contest employees and volunteers who work the athletic contest. Arrange for personnel to supervise contests as needed.
Supervise athletic funds, prepare and administer a detailed operating budget for the athletic programs and submits it to the building principal and District Athletic Director. Order all equipment and maintains a current inventory of all athletic equipment.
Collaborate with District Athletic Director and Jeffco League Athletic Directors. Conduct duties and responsibilities as League Commissioner to the sports assigned by the Jeffco Athletic Director. Attend required monthly league and CHSAA meetings.
Advise and ensure all coaches and programs conform with NFHS, CHSAA, Jeffco League policies and regulations and to state and federal laws. Ensure all coaches have successfully completed required certifications and professional development programs.
Supervise and is responsible for preparation of home contests.
Provide leadership for and serve as liaison to high school athletic booster groups and coordinate, with the coaches, the support group for specific athletic programs.
Supervise athletics secretary and delegate the tasks related to the above duties and responsibilities as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal and or District Athletic Director.

EXPERIENCE Successful experience as a high school varsity coach, athletic director and Assistant Principal.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Master's degree required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Colorado Principal License issued or in process.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Demonstrated conflict management, problem solving, resource allocation, prioritization, data analysis, collaborative decision making, relationship building, group facilitation, writing, and speaking skills. Ability to facilitate/mediate conflict. Demonstrated knowledge and use of District policies, procedures, employee contracts, and legal requirements. Computer and technology skills which include Human Resources; Financial Systems; and communications technology including software, E-mail, and voice mail are a condition of employment and must be obtained within one year after hire.
DECISION MAKING Assist principal in the following areas: Determine staffing levels and budget requirements; develop alternatives and make decisions in crises situations; utilize collaborative decision making skills; and apply good judgment to ensure student safety and carry out student discipline. Decision making authority may be delegated to this position, but final decisions are the responsibility of the principal. Errors could affect the reputation of District and/or compromise student safety and the learning environment.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS Daily contact with parents, students, and law enforcement officials to exchange information and resolve issues. Assist principal in the following areas: Regular contact with vendors, media, legislatures, and government entities to exchange information; with higher education, partnerships, and businesses to exchange information, develop and maintain programs, maintain relationships, and foster program participation; with government agencies, community individuals and groups, transportation officials, and community colleges to exchange information and resolve issues; and with district attorneys to exchange information regarding legal matters.
SPAN OF CONTROL Directly supervise coaches, club sponsors, classified employees, and others as assigned. Assist principal with carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY Lead the community in the development of challenging performance standards for students. Establish and promote high expectations for students and staff for academic performance and sporting behavior. Use data to analyze the current state of student learning and serve as a catalyst for and manager of needed change. The majority of the time is spent at the school site.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK Requires analytical skills, independent thinking, considerable judgment, and the ability to assess crises and make sound decisions quickly with little time or input from others. Assist with managing personnel, curriculum, student success and discipline, and physical plant. Must have a strong understanding of student behavior, District culture and policies, and be able to quickly analyze the impact of decisions on the student, school, District, and community. Generally, work is complicated by the volume of students at the school site, large budget management responsibilities, and the diversity and severity of student issues and crises.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to compare, analyze, communicate, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate. The employee frequently is required to copy, instruct, compute, and synthesize.
WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
