    Description
    The Instructor of Mathematics is a full-time non-tenured faculty position requiring a strong academic background specifically in more than one area of mathematics. The Instructor of Mathematics shall have the primary responsibility of supporting the Division of Computer Science, Mathematics and Technology in maximizing the University's operating performance while achieving institutional goals and objectives. The Instructor of Mathematics requires experience in the field with the ability to teach undergraduate courses both face-to-face and online. Faculty must develop and utilize a syllabus for each course, following institutional guidelines. This key position shall report to the Chair of the Division of Computer Science, Mathematics and Technology.

    Essential Functions

    Provide instruction for undergraduate mathematics courses courses.
    Support math coordinators to increase student learning, create positive thought, and develop confident users of mathematics.
    Manage, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
    Participate in subject or area association meetings as appropriate and maintain relationships with professional associations.
    Keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading and returning of assignments.
    Maintain accurate and complete scholastic records, including attendance.
    Assess student learning outcomes and ensure they conform with University requirements, and document the results of the assessment to improve student learning.
    Offer both introductory and advanced courses directly related to scheduled instruction, including lecture, laboratory, clinical, performance and coaching assignments.
    Develop and utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
    Be accountable for collaborative and applied research in various disciplines, including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants.
    Perform teaching, scholarship, service, professional development, and program assessment for accreditation.
    Advise students for both academic and career fields.
    Give individual evaluations of student performance including midterm and final grades.
    A thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems (LMS), and computer applications is essential (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas, Powercampus, Jenzabar, LinkedIn Learning).
    Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the Division of Computer Science, Mathematics and Technology Division.
    The omission of specific duties does not preclude the department head from assigning tasks that logically relate to the position.

    Proficiency in MS Office Suite, LinkedIn Learning, and knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
    Familiarity with Jenzabar technology suite for higher education.
    Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

    Minimum Requirements

    A master's degree and 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics.
    Evidence of plans to continue scholarly and professional growth.
    Teaching experience at the college level, including experience as a teaching assistant while in graduate school.
    The potential to have a positive impact through service that represents the University on campus and within the greater community.
    Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and software applications.
    Demonstrated ability to interact with large groups and individuals at all work levels.
    A record showing commitment to customer service and the application of appropriate flexibility in response to issues and opposing points of view.
    Preferred qualifications: experience directing groups.
    Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends (if applicable).
