- Provides continuous 1:1 skilled nursing services to students with special health and developmental needs, including medication administration and specialized medical procedures, such as tracheostomy and gastrostomy care, during the school year.
- Responds to health related emergencies, including first aid and CPR.
- Manages assigned student's chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizure disorders, gastrointestinal disease, tracheostomy and cardiac disorders.
- Collaborates with building nurse, parent and classroom teacher to develop comprehensive plan of care for student.
- Communicates effectively with building nurse and parent in regards to student's health needs and progress.
- Accompanies assigned students on field trips as needed for medical services.
- Accompanies student on school transportation to and from school if needed.
- Assists building nurses with health office duties when student absent from school.
- Possible hours during the summer if student attends 6 week Extended School Year program.
- Demonstrates broad knowledge in the use of health assessments, nursing diagnoses, care plans, intervention procedure, referral resources and follow-up care as applicable in the school setting.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills, including but not limited to electronic medical records, email, word processing and spreadsheet use on Microsoft and/or Google formats.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Education:
Current license and registration as a Registered Professional Nurse granted by the NYS Department of Education. Bachelor's degree preferred. Current certification in BLS for Healthcare Professionals.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of nursing practice. Experience with 1:1 nursing, pediatrics, school nursing, emergency care and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
Special Skills:
Specialized health procedures, such as diabetes, tracheostomy and gastrostomy care.
