    Job Summary:

    The Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) performs the acute hemodialysis treatment procedure by delivering safe, efficient care of the highest quality under the supervision of an Acute Hemodialysis Registered Nurse.

    Responsibilities

    Major Duties:
    • Understands basic renal function and the consequences of renal failure.
    • Demonstrates basic knowledge of treatment modalities available to ESRD patients.
    • Promotes the education of patients and their understanding of their disease and its treatment.
    • Understands and performs the acute hemodialysis procedure according to Good Samaritan Dialysis policies and procedures under supervision of Acute Hemodialysis Registered Nurse.
    • Ensures that all safety checks are completed before initiation of dialysis treatment.
    • Monitors and records dialysis treatment parameters such as vital signs, weight changes, etc. and communicates information to licensed personnel according to Good Samaritan Hospital Dialysis policy and procedures.
    • Adheres to Good Samaritan Hospital Dialysis infection control policies and procedures understanding the hazards and consequences associated with failing to follow those procedures.
    • Performs thorough patient observations, as evidenced by documentation and feedback to the licensed personnel.
    • Communicates significant information to appropriate team members and documents in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
    • Obtains blood samples and culture specimens as ordered and performs routine tests.
    • Administers oxygen as necessary by cannula or mask under direction of the nurse.
    • Participates in CPR as needed.
    • Prepares treatment area prior to initiation of patient treatment and post patient treatment per Good Samaritan Hospital Dialysis policy and procedure.
    • Prepares daily dialysis logs and set-ups for each shift of patients as directed.
    • Helps to maintain a neat and clean environment.
    • Prepares, records and files laboratory reports as directed.
    • Performs all tasks necessary for the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the unit.
    • Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and Good Samaritan Hospital Dialysis policies.
    • Participates in self and/or peer evaluations.
    • Promotes a teamwork approach by offering information, advice, and assistance to all unit staff members in a positive, courteous, and cooperative manner.
    • Adheres to company policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
    • Disinfects equipment per manufacturer and Good Samaritan Hospital Dialysis guidelines, policies, and procedures.
    • Participate in surveys as requested by hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital Dialysis.
    • Provide training and education to licensed and unlicensed dialysis personnel as needed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications

    Education:
    • High School diploma/GED
    • National CCHT Certification
    • Current CPR certification (AHA BLS)
    Employment Requirements:
    • One-year clinical acute or outpatient hemodialysis experience required.
    • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
