    CHILDREN'S SERVICES PROGRAM

    Clinician

    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Clinical Program Supervisor functions as Clinician for children and youth in the SCHARP Children's Services program. Provides comprehensive, integrated, therapeutic mental health services to all assigned clients. Functions as a member of the Children's Services staff team. Adheres to all required documentation standards.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Must be able to pass California State Department of Justice criminal background investigation, Live Scan and/or fingerprinting.

    EDUCATION:

    1. Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling, Psychology

    2. Registered with the State of California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners for the area of specialty.

    EXPERIENCE:

    1. Must have at least two years experience working with mentally ill children.

    SPECIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    1. Ability to relate to individuals who have severe impairments in their ability to function in the community.

    2. Ability to respond quickly, effectively and with equanimity to client/family crises and life situations.

    3. Knowledge of Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health's Rehab Option model of service provision and documentation requirements.

    4. Basic computer skills and literacy are required to use the agency electronic health record. Staff must be able to logon, type, use a mouse and negotiate through various screens or windows to complete daily chart documentation.

    5. Ability to work as a team member and to work with other agencies, community resources and member's families.

    6. Must have valid California Driver's license and the availability of a car with adequate insurance.

    DUTIES:

    1. Functions as therapist for children and youth in the SCHARP Children's Services Program

    2. Work as a team with Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Department of Probation, Foster Care system, psychiatrists and other interagency and intra-agency staff to provide consistent services.

    3. Functions as LPHA for assigned clients; ensuring Children's Initial Assessment, Client Care Coordination Plans and required updates are clinically relevant to the individual client as well as reviewed, completed and signed in a timely manner as specified by Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health standards.

    4. Works with SCHARP program treatment team to coordinate services and monitor Client Care plans and treatment goals.

    5. Plan, develop and conduct groups as scheduled.

    6. Provide crisis intervention services to children in the SCHARP Children's Services Program at risk of hospitalization, detention and /or incarceration in an effort to avert hospitalization, detention and /or incarceration.

    7. Maintain contact with family members and significant other support persons of clients as appropriate.

    8. Maintain a Daily Service Log on a daily basis, documenting all services to be billed and attaching the progress notes for these services. Service codes and time billed must be consistent on the Daily Service Log and progress note. Documentation is to be completed and submitted in a timely manner (within 24 hours of delivery of services).

    9. Involve clients / family in all aspects of the services they receive as partners, providing them with choices and with opportunities for empowerment whenever possible.

    10. Ensure clients / family are involved in establishing goals in the areas of living arrangements, social relationships, age appropriate developmental tasks, education, and dental and medical care.

    11. Bill at least 2/3s of hours worked not including meals, meeting and training hours each day.

    12. Prepare for weekly clinical staff meetings and supervision by having current information on the status of all assigned clients and program assignments.

    13. Participate in agency utilization review process as scheduled.

    14. Provide mental health therapeutic and rehabilitation services as need by assigned clients.

    15. On an ongoing basis, complete all Rehab Option, Outcomes study and other paperwork within prescribed time frames.

    16. Other duties as assigned.
