Our geotechnical engineers and geologists specialize in landslides, sinkholes, mine subsidence, seepage, expansive soils, and seismic activity. We have completed more than 1,000 subsurface and geophysical projects across the U.S. from small-scale projects to large, complex dams, highways, bridges, and underground structures. Our Geotechnical Practice is currently seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Valley Forge, PA.

    As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead geotechnical engineers and assist project managers in planning and overseeing subsurface explorations and performing analyses for transportation, facilities, water resources and other types of projects.


    Responsibilities include:


    Lead geotechnical staff in planning and overseeing field explorations, construction projects, laboratory testing, geotechnical design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations, stability and seepage analyses of earthen embankments, settlement estimates, earth retaining systems, and ground improvement assessments for complex sites.

    Develop or review full design packages with geotechnical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.

    Provide technical direction to junior staff;Work in a team environment providing geotechnical engineering services;Lead geotechnical engineering and/or project manager for engineering projects for a wide variety of engineering projects for public and private sector clients;Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities;Assist senior staff in managing our client relationships, including business and new client development to expand the scope of our existing servicesMinimum Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering is requiredMasters Degree with a Geotechnical focus strongly preferredProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license required15-20 years of geotechnical experience with an emphasis in design and development of geotechnical deliverables including investigations, reports, drawings and specificationsExperience with Microsoft 365 applications is requiredExperience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plusExperience with common geotechnical software programs such as SLIDE, SLOPE/W, LPILE, APILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, Settle3 and gINT or OpenGround is strongly preferred.

    FEM analysis experience and GIS experience is a plusField experience with construction observation for bridge projects, highway projects, deep foundations, and sinkhole and landslide remediation projects is preferredStrong analytical, report writing and communication skillsMust be able to work outdoors in all seasons, when needed Must have valid Drivers LicenseAt Gannett Fleming, we believe in improving the lives of the people we serve.
