- PhD in Neuroscience, Physiology, Microbiology, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field;
- Strong evidence of leadership in the form of first author publications, mentoring experience, leadership roles in organizations, or similar activities;
- Expertise in patch clamp electrophysiology, rodent pain behavior testing, or in vivo circuit manipulation/monitoring (e.g., optogenetics, chemogenetics, fiber photometry).

The Sadler Lab is actively recruiting a postdoctoral fellow (Research Associate) to work on NIH-funded projects that investigate how pain-related changes in the gut microbiome alter activity in peripheral and central neuronal circuits.
The Research Associate will plan, conduct, and direct a wide variety of experiments using advanced equipment and applying complex techniques, methods, and procedures.
They will be responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data, for planning and executing the details of experiments according to research protocol.
This position will work with Dr.Kate Sadler to develop individualized training goals; fellows are encouraged to identify research topics and technical approaches they want to learn in the lab by exploring the Sadler Lab website and reading publications from the group.
At the beginning of their training, postdocs will be expected to work part-time on funded projects.Fellows will spend their remaining effort developing independent research programs that are aligned with the scientific goals of the lab.
Postdocs are expected to mentor junior lab members and positively contribute to lab culture. Fellows will have ample opportunity to apply for independent funding, travel to scientific conferences, and network with other academics. Fellows are also encouraged to identify and participate in other training activities consistent with their career goals.
This position is in the department of Neuroscience in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD - ).
