    GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
    + Assists in the management of Perioperative or Orthopedic department.


    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    + Licensed in the State of Idaho as a Registered Nurse as defined by the Idaho State Board of Nursing. + Bachelor's Degree in Nursing strongly preferred. + Two years of nursing experience preferred. + Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk. + Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    + Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. + Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable). + Assists in coordinating services to obtain the established goals for the unit. + Exercises assistive responsibility for departmental operations, quality of care, program evaluation and development and medical staff relations. + Participates in activities related to budgeting, planning, program development, facilities, materials management, safety, and quality. + Participates in development of policies and procedures and ensures they are reviewed, revised and implemented in appropriate time frames. + Plans, assigns, and monitors the work of staff. + May participate in supervisory duties including hiring, salary review, competency assessment, staff development, counseling and terminating employees. + Maintains working relationships with other Medical Center departments and physicians. + Responds to requests and complaints from patients and their families. + Serves on Medical Center committees. + Attends meetings and represents Nurse Manager in his/her absence. + Performs other such department and Medical Center tasks as may be assigned. + Serves in a staff role based on the unit specific staffing plan and day to day requirements of the unit.
