    Summary:

    The Warehouse Supervisor is instrumental in building strong relationships with

    team members in order to lead a highly motivated team of 5-7 team members

    in daily warehouse operations; furthermore,

    ensuring team members are safely and effectively performing job responsibilities

    utilizing standardized methods providing consistent communication, training,

    coaching, development, recognition, and supervision.

    What You'll Do:
    • Assist with constrained suppliers as required and help planning break through internal and external constraints.
    • Determines inventory needs to maximize inventory turns and cash flow management.
    • Manages inventory rotation and organizes materials for physical inventories.
    • Conducts off-site visits and inspections with suppliers as regular part of supply management.
    • Coordinates transfer of materials from other PGT locations to meet production schedules.
    • Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials.
    • Recommends changes to procedures based on experience and research.
    • Provides input on strategic plans and leads action plan teams.
    • Monitor and enhance supplier performance through effective use of supplier scorecards.
    • Implement and achieve cost saving strategies in line with purchasing/supply management/supply chain department goals.
    • Understand, interpret, and analyze requisitions or request for orders and engineering changes.
    • Entering and updating of purchase system.
    • Verify data accuracy (parts numbers, BOMs, Part Costs) in MRP: report problems to Inventory Control.
    • The Purchasing Supervisor will help to set up part numbers for purchased items as needed, including: pricing, costing, lead time, supplier, and ERP planning information.
    • Capable problem solving skills to accept frequent challenges, with simple to moderate scope, that confront typical shop floor environments (scrap, labor and machine constraints, production delays, quality and tooling issues, etc) and to manage those challenges effectively.
    • Ability to operate in compliance with all company policies and procedures (business ethics, export and SOX compliance, etc).
    • Allocates company's inventory capacity based on quantity, availability and reliability.
    • Prepares purchase orders, bid requests or requisitions.
    • May approve invoices for payment.
    • Confers with internal departments, including quality control, production, inventory control and receiving to determine inventory needs and investigate supplier problems, such as quality issues and availability.
    • Determines corrective action when problems are encountered, including returns and exchanges of unacceptable goods.
    • Expedites delivery of goods to users and follows up with complete communication of action taken.
    • Ensures that procurement records are maintained to document items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • BA/BS in Business Required
    • Demonstrate planning, analytical, organizational and project management skills.
    • Customer service skills are required.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management.
    • Proven cost reduction track record.
    • Experience using common PC software, including MS-Word, MS-Excel, and MS-Access, working knowledge of ERP with an understanding of bills of materials and supporting data of the operating system and understanding and ability to apply the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Kanban systems required.
    • The Buyer/Planner must also possess excellent negotiation, verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to read prints, including a basic understanding of tolerances and finishes.
    • Supervision experience is preferred.

    • Must be able to visually inspect periodic deliveries of goods in plant.
    • Minimal additional physical demands, including occasional bending, walking and stooping
    • Consistent daily attendance required to monitor material replenishment for assigned areas.
    • Work in both air-conditioned office environment and non air-conditioned plant environment.
    • Must be able to move freely and navigate through production floor.
    • May require some overnight travel

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to travel occasionally domestically.

    Occasional: activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.

    Frequent: activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time
