    Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.

    We are opening an office in the Chesterfield, MO area and have an opening for a substation project engineer. This role offers a great opportunity to help start and grow a new office location.

    The successful applicant will be responsible for the conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization. Engineering responsibilities include the development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications. A Project Engineer assists the Project Manager in the planning and execution of best-in-class projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff.

    The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, 6+ years' project and design engineering experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organization and planning skills, ability to work in a team environment, commitment to quality and accuracy, and a willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules. A PE license is preferred. The successful applicant must have an advanced knowledge of power engineering principals, be expert regarding applicable codes, standards and design tools, possess basic project management execution skills, and have the ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications.
    • Coordinate with subject matter expert discipline groups.
    • Oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • 6+ years' project and design engineering experience.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organization and planning skills.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Commitment to quality and accuracy.
    • A willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
