    Pay Range:
    $20-26The Technician-level position as a machinist in the Mechanical Engineering Machine Shop operates a wide range of machine tools in the precision fabrication from aerospace-grade metals of prototype / development parts and assemblies, in support of internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.

    The manually or numerically controlled equipment used will require competency in lathe, mill, press, shear, band saw, and grinders operations.

    Requested tasks are verified and evaluated with the Manager and test requester and scheduled in an environment where there are often competing and conflicting needs to be resolved.

    Job status is reported and reviewed as required with the manager.

    The selected candidate will report directly to the Supervisor of the Mechanical Engineering Machine Shop (MEMS) as part of the Structural & Environmental Lab inside of the Technology Labs and Services Organization within the Engineering and Technology Department for LM Missiles and Fire Control.


    Basic REQUIRED Skills:

    • Some experience with technical fabrication in a prototype/development environment with experience in metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and composites fabrication while working in a teaming environment.
    • Demonstrated competence in fabrication of basic steel and aluminum alloys using knee mill, band saw, manual lathe, basic hand-powered metal cutting.
    • Must be able to work a flex-schedule, overtime, evenings, weekends, etc., and the position will require candidate to work onsite, daily.
    • Capable of deconflicting scheduling conflicts with customers and possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects as needed.
    • Proficient in computing within a Windows-based MS Office-suite centered environment for communication, scheduling, data processing, and basic data transfer.
    • Demonstrated sound writing and verbal communication skills.
    • High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks and 4 years or more of experience.
    • Able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Not required to start.

    Desired Skills:

    • 4 years technical fabrication experience in a prototype/development environment with experience in metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and composites fabrication while working in a teaming environment.
    • Knowledge of CNC machines and software, CATIA, Creo, Pro E, and G-code programing.
    • GD&T, Mil-Spec Standards,
    • Advanced working knowledge with various metals, layout, cutting, bending, forming.
    • Working knowledge from concept design into product development.
    • Ability to communicate through development preform guidance of working projects and tasking individuals.
    • Current DoD Secret clearance is highly preferred however not required
