    The Henrico Citizen, a 22-year-old digital news organization in Henrico County, Virginia, is seeking a full-time director of revenue to help connect local businesses and organizations with our 80,000+ monthly readers, 23,000+ email newsletter subscribers and 20,000+ social media followers.

    The right candidate will help craft effective advertising, sponsored content and marketing campaigns for businesses and organizations whose messaging (and marketing budget) is getting lost elsewhere.

    We won't stop you from making cold calls or sending cold emails, but you'll fit best in this position if you thrive upon the type of personal interactions that happen at business events, networking meetings and other in-person gatherings.

    The right candidate for our position is someone who loves the Richmond region and who can't wait to meet other business professionals and learn about their companies, challenges and opportunities.

    If you have most or all of the following experience and attributes, we'd like to talk with you:


    • Proven success in a sales or development position;
    • A history of overachievement;
    • Extroverted leadership abilities;
    • Excellent communication skills;
    • Strong belief in the value and importance of local nonpartisan journalism;
    • Strong knowledge of the Metro Richmond business community;
    • Ability to work independently and alongside the founder;
    • Comfort in a digital-only, entrepreneurial environment.
    This position is full-time and includes the following benefits:


    • Voluntary medical, vision, dental insurance;

    • A $50-a-month cell phone stipend;

    Anticipated annual salary of $50,000+ ($30,000 annual base salary, plus commission ranging between 5% and 25% on all sales, dependent upon meeting specific sales goals).
