    Position: Attorney-Adviser (General), NH GS-14 – GS-15 equivalent)

    Description of Position: Ethics counselor to the commander and staff of United States Space Command, responsible for managing ethics program including ethics advice, financial disclosure, and employment law matters.

    Position Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) and leaders at all levels of the command on all Government ethics issues for the command including gifts, travel, and the use of Government resources.
    • and manage financial disclosures (Office of Government Ethics Forms 278 and 450) for mandatory filers within the command.
    • and advise potential conflicts of interest and counsel departing employees on post-government employment restrictions.
    • SJA and leaders at all levels of the command on Federal civilian employment law matters.
    • SJA and leaders at all levels of the command fiscal law issues.

    Key Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of Standards of Ethical Conduct for Executive Branch Employees and DoD Joint Ethics Regulations.
    • Ability to identify subtle ethics issues and analyze applicable standards to provide advice.
    • Provide training and instruction on appropriate ethics issues to full spectrum of audiences, from new employees to senior executives.
    • Monitor and track financial disclosure reporting to ensure timely submission and identify/resolve potential conflicts of interest.
    • Review, analyze, and provide legal advice on proposed actions involving the obligation and/or expenditure of appropriated funds.

    Qualification Requirements:

    • Experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) in serving as an ethics counselor in the Executive Branch.
    • Must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and be currently licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing, with the bar of a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth. The attorney must maintain such bar membership in at least one jurisdiction during the entire course of employment with the Air Force.

    Conditions of Employment:

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
    • Position requires drug testing
    • Occasional travel away from the regular duty location may be required.
    • May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
    • Required to disclose any pending ethics or other judicial or miscellaneous allegations under review, including any adverse findings by a state bar or disciplinary committee and must consent to provide a letter from each state where admitted in order to demonstrate good standing.
