    The OPERATING ROOM RN II is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team who functions in an autonomous manner utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients. The OPERATING ROOM RN II must apply current nursing knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide for the wellbeing of the individual and the family. The nurse provides care through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of nursing care of actual or potential health needs, in accordance with organizational policies and the standards of professional nursing practice while assisting the provider with the treatment and examination of the patient. The RN serves as a resource for internal and external customers by utilizing several resources established by Evernorth and ECOS policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure delivery of high-quality care within the guidelines of Evernorth Care Group Nursing Policies and Procedures. The OPERATING ROOM RN II utilizes knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills needed to assess, provide and evaluate care appropriate based on the physical and developmental age of the patient.

    Business Hours: Monday – Thursday and Friday's Hours of work will vary based on the are you are assigned to work (Pre-op, Intra op, PACU N 3rd Street Phoenix AZ 85012)

    This is a Part Time Non – Benefited position. Looking for availability at a minimum of 4 shifts per month.

    Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions

    • Integrates physiologic, medical, surgical, and anesthetic information to set patient care priorities. The assessment data is reviewed, analyzed and evaluated throughout the patient's OR stay. The identification of an actual or potential alteration in functioning allows the OR nurse to identify the problem and it's most likely cause.
    • The OR nurse, using Nursing Diagnoses, will set goals for care and will direct nursing interventions toward resolution of the problem or elimination of the cause.
    • Functions as a competent health team member in providing Basic Cardiac Life Support (Including patient airway, defibrillation and administration of medications under emergency conditions) Starts and discontinues intravenous therapy, administers medications PO, IV, IM, SQ, SL, PR, by inhalation and topically.
    • Performs venipuncture for laboratory analysis as ordered.
    • Provides the patient with a safe environment by strict adherence to all safety and infection control policies thereby providing the patient with genuine feelings of safety and security.
    • Is responsible for the preparation of the patient, necessary paperwork, and transportation for planned and unplanned admissions to outside facilities. Assists anesthesiologists with pain blocks, intubations, positioning of the patient as indicated.
    • Ensures that essential equipment/supplies are available the day of surgery and informs the lead and/or OPS manager if not complete prior to the day of surgery.
    • Assumes responsibility for the orientation and training of "new" personnel in the operating room.
    • Assists Anesthesia department and Pharmacy in maintenance of Controlled medications.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • RN with current unrestricted Arizona license
    • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
    • BSN preferred
    • Current BLS certification
    • ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
    • Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills
    • Basic Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong Customer centric.
    • Requires critical thinking, communication, decision making, analytical and strong interpersonal relationship skills.
    • EKG Rhythm interpretation
    • ASC experience preferred.
    • Pool ASC RN II is expected to have all required certifications upon hire.
