- The Manager of Material Control is responsible for all activities and staff related to the material logistics function. Coordinates with Production Control, Supply Chain, Repair Station and Engineering to ensure the correct materials are received, stored, issued and shipped on time to meet customer objectives. Drives for continuous improvement and customer excellence.
- Responsible for ensuring that all material handling, storage, protection and shipment is consistent with customer contractual requirements and quality expectations.
- Responsible for the maintenance and reporting of inventory accuracy; reconciling and conducting root cause and corrective action with other internal organizations as appropriate.
- Responsible for the maintenance and control of company and customer property in alignment with company procedures and FAA regulations. Dispose of company property and assets as directed.
- Responsible for the receipt of materials, ensuring they meet the purchase order requirements and routing them to inspection or putting the material into storage in a timely manner.
- Responsible for issuing materials to the production floor and repair station on time and in the manner requested. Responsible for the movement of material throughout and between the facilities. This may include kitting parts, replenishment of kanban systems, movement of subassemblies via water spider, movement of shipments between buildings, etc.
- Responsible for processing and shipping all customer sales orders on time to meet customer requested dock dates. Includes picking, inspecting, packaging and shipping product efficiently. Responsible for the company On Time Delivery metric; reconciling and conducting root cause and corrective action with other internal organizations as appropriate.
- Responsible for understanding and applying lean principles in the materials management realm. Must effectively train and lead employees in lean methodologies. Responsible for understanding how the material management value stream supports, interacts with other company value streams, and engage with other leaders on continuous improvement.
- Responsible to carry out supervisory duties in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Responsible for establishing and managing to the department budget.
- Seven (7) or more years in increasing management responsibilities required.
- Bachelor's degree in related operations field preferred.
- Lean manufacturing experience required.
- APICS certification is a plus.
- As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.
