    SUMMARY

    The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Greater Vision Outreach Center warehouse, including but not limited to supervision of volunteers, stocking and rotating food and supplies, warehouse safety, coordination of bulk food donations and distribution, inventory and reporting.

    This position will work closely with the director of the Greater Vision Outreach Ministry to promote community engagement with volunteers, community non-profits, churches, and partner organizations to fulfill the purpose of the ministry.

    Starting salary $42,000

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Meets general employment qualifications as outlined in the Agency's personnel policies.
    • High School diploma or GED.
    • Basic knowledge and experience in warehouse management.
    • Has the ability to relate to people and to function as a member of the ministry team.
    • Effectively handle and lift various objects weighing up to 60 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally.
    • Must be organized and able to manage and complete multiple tasks and work independently.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed including occasional evenings and weekends when work groups are scheduled.
    • Has the knowledge and skills to fulfill job responsibilities.
    • Must have a valid driver's license with a record of safe driving.
    • Manifests in daily action a Christian spirit and lifestyle by incorporating Baptist Children's Homes core values and philosophy.
    • Current forklift certification is preferred but not required. Position will require forklift certification within 90 days of being hired.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Professionalism/Teamwork:

    • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and an awareness of cultural/relational sensitivities.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Respects the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of volunteers and clients and strives to create positive relationships within BCH.
    • Maintains a professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or difficult situations.
    • Participates in the yearly United Way Campaign committee.
    • Represents BCH and Greater Vision at Outreach events in the community.
    • Works independently, making essential decisions to ensure efficient warehouse operations.

    Supervisory:

    • Works under the direct supervision of the Director of the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Greater Vision Outreach Ministry.
    • Participates in 90-day and annual performance evaluations.
    • Cooperates with supervisor in establishing performance goals and objectives.
    • Communicates with and keeps supervisor informed and requests conferences as needed.
    • Participates in staff training as requested by the supervisor.
    • Participates in monthly supervision with supervisor.
    • Works in a cooperative relationship with volunteers and the community by representing the agency in a professional, objective and positive manner.
    • Supervises volunteers in the warehouse, including Urban League participants.
    • Second in charge of the center, becoming first in charge when director is off site.
    Daily Responsibilities

    • Ensures that food donations are properly sorted, stored and rotated.
    • Maintains safety protocols in the warehouse at all times.
    • Ensures the warehouse is clean and organized.
    • Maintains warehouse equipment, ensuring regular maintenance or repairs are completed.
    • Orders supplies for the warehouse as needed.
    • Checks and records freezer and cooler temperatures.
    • Assists with training new volunteers.
    • Receives donations to the center, assisting donors with unloading.
    • Works with director to purchase food for clients when funds are available.
    • Builds and maintains relationships with community partners and donors.
    • Coordinates deliveries and pick-ups.
    • Maintains a first-in, first-out system of inventory control and storage.
    • Safely operates forklift, pallet jacks, truck, etc.
    • Assists director of Greater Vision in recruiting and training of volunteers.
    • Oversees client interactions when director of Greater Vision is not on site.
    • Participates in the agency's Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program as needed.

    Administrative Responsibilities:

    • Leads Greater Vision Safety Committee by scheduling quarterly safety meetings, maintaining and recording minutes, and resolving safety concerns.
    • Inspects fire extinguishers monthly.
    • Documents fire drills and emergency light checks yearly.
    • Enters donations on the donation log in a timely manner.
    • Maintains food distribution log monthly.
    • Creates bulletins in Charity Tracker to distribute available donations to partner agencies.
    • Orders Publix Food Share donations twice a year.
    • Arranges for Value Clothing to pick up recycle trailer when full.
    • Takes donated books to McKay's Bookstore.

    Knowledge/Training:

    • Demonstrates a working knowledge and understanding of
    1. the Agency's structures, services, policies and procedures;

    • Has a body of knowledge and skills necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
    • Occupational hazards and safety precautions.
    • Safe and efficient operation of various types of light and heavy-duty tools as well as standard warehouse equipment such as a pallet jack and fork lift.
    • Participates in staff training opportunities provided by the Agency and any other agencies as requested by the supervisor, and/or required by the State of North Carolina.

    EQUIPMENT:


    Ability to operate various types of light and heavy-duty tools and equipment safely and efficiently as well as standard warehouse equipment such as a pallet jack and fork lift.

    Ability to operate a washer and dryer.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read, write and complete necessary documentation.

    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, service recipients, licensing and other oversight contacts, and various other stakeholders, in a variety of situations and formats.


    CONTACT WITH OTHERS:


    Regular contact with colleagues in all departments, as well as with outside individuals and groups; should represent Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc.

    and the Greater Vision Outreach Ministry in a positive manner.

    Contacts outside of the agency where proper handling of situations is of utmost importance as the agency's image could be affected.


    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Excellent mathematical skills and the ability use software to calculate figures.

    MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITORY DEMAND:

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and ability to draw conclusions.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear both in person and on the telephone.
