    *Bilingual Medical Assistantpreferred*JOB PURPOSE:


    Responsiblefor providing a variety of patient care activities under thesupervision of a physician, advanced practice provider (APP), orregistered nurse in accordance with established guidelines andstandards.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Meets and greets patients, obtains appropriate patient informationand medical history, accurately completes and documents patientmedical and physical histories and other related items in theElectronic Medical Record (EMR).
    • Records vital signs;performs EKG, spirometry and or other similar office procedures;aids licensed staff during treatment, examination, and or testingof patients, which may include injections and immunizations.
    Advises physician and or nurse of patient's adverse reaction tomedication and/or treatment to medication and/ortreatment.

    • Performs lab duties, including but notlimited to
    :

    phlebotomy, order entry, specimen collection,establishes chain of custody if applicable, and labels for deliveryto appropriate authority for testing.

    • Under thesupervision of a licensed personnel, distributes educationalinformation and instructions for patient care, diagnostics, andother appropriate treatments.
    • Coordinates telephone andin-basket requests to refill prescription drug medications andreport test results in accordance with provider instructions;responds accordingly to other requests under a physician or otherlicensed provider's guidance.
    • Prepares and maintainsexamination/treatment rooms, including inventory of supplies andequipment.
    • Practices Standard Precautions, includinghandwashing and disposal of bio-hazardous materials; complies withestablished risk management, HIPAA, and safetyprocedures.
    • Attends required meetings, in-services, andparticipates in committees as required.
    • Assist withadministrative duties as needed, to include procedure schedulingand completion of medical and physical history forms and otherrelated information requested by third party payors.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Skill and ability to handlemultiple priorities and deadlines.
    Ability to work as amember of a team.
    Knowledge of medicalterminology.
    Proficient computerskills.
    Qualifications:


    MINIMUM EDUCATIONREQUIRED:

    High School diploma or GED required.

    Graduationfrom an accredited Medical Assistant program accredited through theCommission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs(CAAHEP); or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools(ABHES); or similarly recognized accrediting organization orcompletion of a Nursing Assistant program isrequired.


    MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

    None.
    MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONREQUIRED BY LAW:

    None

    ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:

    BLS required. Certification from theAmerican Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or a similarlyrecognized certifying organizationrequired.
