    Job Description

    The Iowa Treasurer of State is seeking qualified candidates for an Investment Officer position. The Treasurer of State (TOS) acts as the State's banker for State agencies, and has unique responsibilities related to the compiling of the GAAP Package and the State's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).

    Job Description

    The Investment Officer will assist the Financial Manager and Lead Accountant with fund accounting performed within the Treasury. These include distributing Road Use Tax Funds payments, Second Injury Fund payments, and Underground Storage Tank payments. Each of these areas require varying levels of reporting.

    The Treasurer's office is responsible for reconciling all of the State of Iowa's bank accounts. All reconciliations must be approved by either the Financial Manager or Lead Accountant. The Investment Officer will be responsible for reconciling certain bank statements on a regular basis. The office intends to convert to a new reconciliation ledger, and this position will participate in the testing phase of that project.

    Collaboration with the Financial Manager and Lead Accountant provides mentorship opportunities and the successful candidate will be encouraged to seek out continuous improvement by deepening their knowledge in the arenas of public finance and government accounting. This is an ideal position for a May 2024 graduate with a degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.

    The successful candidate must possess a high degree of emotional intelligence, positive attitude, utilize a solution-driven approach to problem solving and understand the importance of maintaining positive working relationships with both internal staff and external service providers.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements
