    Electrical Engineer - Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Power

    Delta Electronics (Americas) – Plymouth, MI

    Come be a part of a team passionate about creating the very best EV/HEV on-board and off-board power electronics products especially for charging infrastructure. As an Electrical engineer, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from advanced development to production launch. You will be expected to utilize your full range of product design, field application, and project coordination skills to help build quality Power Electronic systems. This position is full-time based in Delta's Plymouth, MI engineering center.

    Essential Responsibilities Development:

    • Learn Automotive OEM's and Grid Utility system requirements, create system requirement documentation (SRD) and component specification.
    • Lead design analysis, including of DFMEA, WCCA and functional safety.
    • Conduct electrical hands-on work in lab and in field.
    • Lead RFI/RFQ technical proposal with engineering assumptions, commercial impact assessment and product demonstrations.
    • Facilitate design review and regular meetings with customers and global design teams.
    • Develop local product test capabilities and conduct test in a local engineering lab.
    • Support vehicle integration and resolve quality issues.
    • Coordinate and support production field application issue resolution.

    Essential Skill Development:

    • Gain Power Electronics experience in the field of Electrical Engineering.
    • Obtain applications engineering experience on power electronics products, particularly in mixed automotive and grid utility related applications.
    • Good understanding of product development process.
    • Learn firsthand experience with electronic power products particularly High voltage, high power from kW to MW level. Training will be provided.
    • Develop good verbal and writing communication skills with a global team.
    • Experience the ability to manage multiple projects and activities.
    • Learn strong team coordination skills.

    Essential Skill Desired:

    • Electrical engineering troubleshooting power electronics and low voltage controls.
    • Have strong working knowledge of Bridgeless Totem Pole Rectifier, Dual Active Bridge and LLC power converters including both isolated & non-isolated types used electric power conversion system.
    • Some utility grid trades experience (NFPA 70/NEC) related to split phase 240V & 480V systems for residential and commercial environments.
    • Working knowledge of various EV Charging standards (DIN, ISO, J1772, NACS, etc)
    • Ability to comfortably interact with various OEM customers during critical phases.
    • Previous experience working with some power/hand tools, electrical equipment, isolation meters, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
    • Ability to travel to external sites when needed to help troubleshoot equipment.
    • Capacity to perform physical aspects of work (i.e., lift at least 50 pounds frequently).
    • Organize & Track Lessons Learned/Best Practices to help drive down potential high warranty or address resolve high warranty items in the field.
    • Clearly communicate open issues to various engineering teams and customers.
    • Address & Lead customers' concerns proactively during various development timelines.
    • Have a methodical and logical approach to problem solving.
    • Blend engineering theory and hands on practice to achieve balanced approach in problem solving.
    • Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
