    Job Summary:
    The Skating Manager is responsible for the overall direction and management of the War Memorial/Baptist Health IcePlex Skating Department. This includes the hiring, training, and management of the staff for this department. In addition, this individual will be responsible for the overall program scheduling and development of the skating department.

    This position requires exceptional organizational skills, and expert knowledge of the current industry standards with the national governing body, US Figure Skating.

    The individual must be able to communicate effectively with customers, team members and management.


    Job Functions:


    Specific duties include but are not limited to:Input and manage all Learn to Skate, freestyle and other skating programming in the DaySmart point of sale (POS) systemEnsure timely payment by all contractors and customers, and manage the accounts receivable reportGrow and retain enrollments in the Learn to Skate-USA (LTS), US Figure Skating Aspire and other programs offered within the Skating DepartmentBe an active liaison with the Panthers Figure Skating Club for their events, test sessions, and competitionsCommunicate with and educate customers regarding programming, skating progression, and other related areasMust be present for Learn to Skate classes to handle any questions or concerns from coaches and parentsRecruitment of a skilled coaching staffVerify and collect contracts and certifications for all independent contractorsSupervise and manage department staff including but not limited to; scheduling, payroll approval, disciplinary write-ups, and setting professional goalsCreate and develop additional programming, including but not limited to; ice shows, competitions, and summer camp opportunitiesRespond to all emails and phone calls in a timely mannerEstablish and maintain standards of learning consistent with national benchmarkCreate annual operating budget in conjunction with the War Memorial management teamAdditional duties as assignedRequired Knowledge / Skills / QualificationsStrong skating skillsWorking knowledge of ice skating levels and paths of developmentPrior experience working with a point of sale/database system, DaySmart experience preferredExperience managing employees and/or independent contractorsGood organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsExcellent customer service and communication skills with all stakeholders, including customers, staff, and vendorsQualifications:SkateSafe CertificationUS Ice Rinks Skating Director CourseUS Figure Skating CER CoursesPSA Group and/or Program Director Registered RatingPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a Full-Time position.

    Must be able to work a flexible schedule including late nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
