    Position Summary & Responsibilities:

    Position Summary:

    This position is a multi-skilled position in installation, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Physical Plant operations and grounds of the Wichita Work Release Facility. Through collaboration with the WCF/WWRF Physical Plant Supervisor Senior, the incumbent will ensure all maintenance operations are conducted in a professional manner, aligning the mission of the Wichita Work Release Facility and the Kansas Department of Corrections.

  • Ensure facility building, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems are functioning well, utilizing preventative maintenance to avoid costly repairs.
  • Oversee tool control
  • Assist in preparation of facility operating budget
  • Respond to staff work orders and general facility needs
  • Procure materials and supplies for projects within applicable budget restraints
  • Determine needs and plans for maintenance or repair projects
  • Develop facility vehicle maintenance schedule; inspect and assist in maintaining cleanliness of vehicles
  • Assure the continual and accurate control of caustic and hazardous materials
  • Supervise and guide residents in maintaining building plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, and in minor vehicle maintenance/repair
  • Maintain property inventory
  • Schedule outside vendors for major and routine services

    Qualifications:

  • Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum Qualifications: Five years of experience in the mechanical or building trades Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the Agency. Successfully pass a criminal background check and be free from felony convictions
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience performing visual inspections of buildings, grounds, and physical plant facilities to monitor the operation and maintenance of equipment and to check for needed repairs At least one year of professional work experience in a KDOC facility Able to provide focus, direction, and vision of organizational projects Prior experience determining need for and planning maintenance and/or repair projects, including estimating and submitting cost and materials needs Prior experience purchasing materials and supplies for professional projects Able to maintain records of physical plant activities, such as the operations of mechanical equipment systems, usage of supplies, etc. Customer service oriented and possess the ability to work positively with a variety of individuals
