    JOB SUMMARY

    This position will support the Enterprise Decision Support and Data Governance (EDGE) organization in Southern Company Gas. As a business analyst, this role will serve as a project owner working with business and technology stakeholders to review functional and non-functional requirements needed for strategic technology planning translating requirements into actionable insights. This role will be responsible for demand intake, gathering of appropriate business and data requirements, completion of a full assessment of required support for each project, and fostering collaborative relationships with business partners across the Gas company. This role will also collaborate with other team members to assist the organization with testing, training, and operation of data solutions.

    This position follows a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to be in the office three (3) days per week.

    This position may be filled as an Analyst I (GSE02), Analyst II (GSE03) or Analyst III (GSE04). Individuals who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education, and certifications may be eligible for the more advanced position.

    Atlanta, GA

    Naperville, IL

    Virginia Beach, VA

    Chattanooga, TN

    MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Facilitate the technology request intake process and requirements gathering of technical projects that meet the specified EDGE criteria.

    Build and maintain collaborative partnership with the EDGE team and Gas business partners and keep EDGE leadership apprised of business unit initiatives.

    Lead and develop decision support assessments that are focused on clear articulation of business requirements.

    Understand and articulate the project request, requirements, and expectations communicated by the business partner to the EDGE team supporting the project.

    Perform and document full assessment of project scopes, requirements, and deliverables.

    Work closely with the internal EDGE project manager to ensure adherence to designated deadlines and overall project timeline.

    Facilitate continual communication between team members, stakeholders, and other relevant parties throughout duration of the project.

    Manages multiple projects simultaneously from ideation to implementation.

    As project owner, serve as primary point of contact for business owners, stakeholders, and team members aligned to assigned projects.

    Leads the planning and scheduling of initiative rollouts for the project in collaboration with the project manager.

    Seek opportunities for process and system improvements that provide increased efficiency and effectiveness.

    Clearly communicate data-supported insights and KPI tracking of business objectives

    Be a change agent using data supported recommendations to implement best practices and process improvement.

    Promote and be a champion of Safety-First safety initiatives for work team

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Education

    Bachelors Degree in Business, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Project Management, or other relevant analytical field, or equivalent work experience.

    Advanced degree is a plus.

    Experience

    2 years of experience in data management, data extraction, report creation, managing of cross-functional teams and/or strategic data governance.

    Collaborating with stakeholders, IT and other technical groups (data scientists, data engineers, data architects) to define project objectives and goals.

    Intermediate to advanced expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and other database and reporting tools.

    Strong organizational skills with demonstrated work experience in problem solving, multitasking, and prioritization.

    Intermediate knowledge in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot) and applications within MS Office Suite.

    Proficiency in SQL, Maximo, Oracle, and other ERP systems.

    Experience working cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization.

    Executive-level presentation skill, as well as effective verbal and written communication of complex analytical concepts.

    General natural gas/utilities industry knowledge and/or experience a plus.

    Skills & Abilities

    Ability to interpret complex data sets into actionable insights.

    Ability to inform and influence stakeholders based on findings.

    Ability to manage multiple projects from ideation to implementation.

    Collaboration with multiple business functions.

    Possess at least intermediate level of skills in Strategy Development, Strategy Execution, Project Management, Relationship Building & Influencing, Communication, Presentation, Team Building, Cultural Awareness, and Change Management.

    Proven ability to manage multiple projects and manage competing deadlines.

    Effective written and verbal communication skills.

    Strong ability to communicate business objectives to executive leadership.

    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    This position can require some travel approximately 10% per year.
