- Four years of commercial/naval experience as a First Class Machinist.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations relevant to shipbuilding.
- Proficiency in installation of hull inserts and familiarity with fasteners.
- Ability to interpret complex drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and sketches.
- Proficiency in using lapping and blue checking tools, understanding liner sizes/soft feet.
- Working knowledge of shipbuilding terminology and nomenclature.
- Operation of a lathe and expertise in valve overhaul (steam and wog).
- Repair and maintenance of AC & refrigeration systems.
- Installation of lift check valves, steam plant cleanliness, and air conditioning hydro.
- Proficiency in installing the main engine, propulsion plant machinery, and equipment.
- Knowledgeable in system cleanliness grading and hydrostatic testing.
- Skilled in the installation of anchor windlass, mast, antenna, and ballast tanks.
- Experience in refueling, drilling/tapping, and boiler operations testing.
- Competence in optical alignment and the use of precision instruments.
- Expertise in installing sea valves, system grooming, and operating a boring bar.
- Installation and maintenance of valve, pump packing, and cargo crane operation.
- Skilled in operating portable milling/drill machines and generator/steam turbine work.
- Knowledgeable in pump/motor installation and alignment (M-179 & JX).
- Proficient in operating centrifugal pumps, fitting, and blue-checking liners.
- Installation of condenser/heat exchanger tubes and watertight compartment operation.
- Flange makeup, deck ordinance, winch, steam valve, diesel installation.
- Experience in shafting and bearing work, distilling plant testing, and hydraulic components installation.
- Installation and maintenance of low/high-pressure air compressors and deck/hanger doors.
- Understanding of basic ship systems.
- Provided by the Leased Labor Provider Company and meeting OSHA and ANSI standards, including but not limited to:
- Confined space training in accordance with OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1915 Subpart B.
- Hazard communication, respirator training, and qualification.
- Fall protection, body harness, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) training.
- Audiometric testing, physical work demands, and cut-resistant gloves requirement.
- Four years of commercial/naval experience as a First Class Machinist.
- Proficiency in shipbuilding-related skills and operations.
- Compliance with safety standards and qualifications.
