    The inpatient Float Pool team is comprised of highly-skilled Registered Nurses (RN) and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) with the ability to provide high quality care to our patients and families in a variety of clinical areas.

    Our mission, as a float pool, is to partner with inpatient units to create supportive staffing solutions to meet the demands of our University Hospitals and patients' needs, while providing continuity of care in a safe environment.

    Graduate of accredited nursing program
    Performs and documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments.

    Anticipates patient's and/or patient\s family's needs and expectations and utilizes them in conjunction with assessment to develop appropriate plan of care for patient.

    Maintains and utilizes competencies per unit expectation.
    Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment. Coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care.

    Confers with all members of health care team in collaborative fashion, sharing information and observations of patient and/or family in manner that contributes to optimal patient care.

    Prioritizes nursing interventions based upon assessment. Identifies changes in condition as evidenced by nursing assessment, labs, x-rays, etc. Evaluates implemented interventions and modifies care according to evaluation. Documents interventions and modifications to plan of care.

    Adheres to appropriate hospital and/or Department of Nursing policies, procedures, clinical pathways and nationally accepted standards of nursing practice while delivering nursing care to patients.

    Suggests practices to enhance nursing care based on current literature and research. Demonstrates effective communication with children, adolescents, adults and older adults. Welcomes and orients patient and family to unit. Encourages patient and family participation in care. Reviews plan of care with patient and family. Provides supervision of and direction to unlicensed support personnel and nurses new to environment. Delegates duties within legal para- meters.
    Responds to patient's and/or patient's family's complaints to Clinical Nurse Manager or their designee. Participates in performance improvement activities as directed. Attends at least 80% of scheduled staff meetings and 100% of mandatory educational sessions.
