    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE OF FUNCTION

    The Director of Maintenance plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the operational efficiency of an organization's physical assets. They are responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance strategies to ensure the reliability, safety, and longevity of equipment and facilities. This key leadership position involves managing a team of skilled technicians and maintenance staff, allocating resources effectively, and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Additionally, they collaborate with other departments to align maintenance efforts with overall business objectives. The Director of Maintenance must stay abreast of technological advancements and industry best practices to continuously improve maintenance processes and contribute to the organization's overall success by minimizing downtime and enhancing asset performance.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Manage refrigeration/utilities, boilers, and compressors.


    • Responsible for the maintenance of all facilities.


    • Supports the VP of Operations in the development of the 3 Year Strategic Plan for capital planning.


    • Handle budgeting, staffing, equipment set up, and line balancing responsibilities.


    • Responsible for submission and completion of approved capital projects.


    • Manage and direct PSM Program, certification required.


    • Develop the maintenance team through continual training, recruiting to maximize collective skills and providing a work environment conducive to bringing out the best in the maintenance teams.


    • Communicate and negotiate with outside vendors and contractors.


    • Handle multiple plant projects along with regular maintenance responsibilities.


    • Manage preventive and predictive programs (ISO, AIB, USDA, FDA, BRC, Cook & Thurber)


    • Develop drawings and layouts via Auto CAD to communicate concept designs and standard reference drawings.


    • Meet all safety and equipment standards approved by the FFDCA (Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act) which is administered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


    • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience within food processing/manufacturing including management/supervision within maintenance food safety program.


    • Project management experience with projects ranging from low cost/no cost to $2 million, from concept to completion.


    • Thorough knowledge of food processing/manufacturing.


    • World class manufacturing knowledge, TPM, Lean Manufacturing and state of the art equipment knowledge is needed.


    • Knowledge/ experience to include: BOM, Food Safety, HACCP, GMP's, regulatory affairs, & CDM. Auto CDA 2014 or later.


    • Self-starter and able to work with and direct supervisors, mechanics, leads, stockroom, maintenance planner within refrigeration, utilities & plant maintenance.


    • Strong computerized preventive maintenance program experience required (MP2).


    • PLC's, high speed packaging, electrical/electronic skills, and overall maintenance troubleshooting ability.


    • Project scheduling software (Microsoft Excel or Project).


    • ERP experience


    • Facility purchasing experience


    • Read mechanical and electrical blueprints.


    • Quick thinker who can plan, organize, and "lead by example".


    • Enthusiastic team leader with outstanding motivational skills and ability to develop PM's.


    • Strong "hands-on" management style.


    • Must be able to read/write English, communicate, and work well with others
