    The State Coastal Conservancy has two exciting opportunities for you to join us in protecting California's iconic lands and waters, restoring vital habitats, and increasing inclusive and equitable enjoyment of the coast and shoreline.


    The Conservancy works with others on multi-benefit projects located along the coast of California, within coastal watersheds, and/or within the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.

    The two new Project Support Analysts will assist with disbursing state funding and managing projects to acquire and protect natural and agricultural lands, restore and enhance habitats and ecosystems, design and build trails and other recreational facilities, plan and implement climate adaptation projects, implement urban greening projects, provide environmental education, and improve public access for historically underserved communities in the North Coast Region and San Francisco Bay Area.

    Tasks will include soliciting and reviewing grant applications, reviewing documents related to projects, writing and presenting staff recommendations for Conservancy Board approval, developing grant agreements in cooperation with legal staff, ensuring that all conditions of the grant agreement are met, reviewing invoices, and monitoring the progress of projects.

    The new staff members will be part of the North Coast or San Francisco Bay Area regional team at the Conservancy, and will work with grantees, partner agencies, organizations, tribes, and community groups.

    These positions are located in Oakland, CA. These positions are limited term assignments for a duration of 12 months.

    Candidates on the Staff Serves Analyst list who have a BA or BS are eligible for Range C, salary range $4, $5,916.00 per month.

    If you are new to state employment you will start at the minimum of the salary range.

    Working Conditions


    • Position is in a high-rise building
    • This position is eligible for telework 3 days per week under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. The Conservancy has a telework policy for Headquarter (HQ) employees, that allows staff to telework up to 3 days per week. A computer for teleworking can be provided if needed. All Headquarters employees are required to be in the office twice a week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
    • Office setting; Monday through Friday; prolonged periods of sitting (or standing, if preferred).
    • Work on a computer up to 8 hours a day. May be asked to work a hybrid work schedule including in-office and at-home workdays with regular and predictable attendance.
    • Outdoor work is occasionally necessary; work environment may involve a range of climatic and physical conditions such as exposure to rain, heat, cold, fumes, dust, air contaminants, stinging insects, poison oak, and rattlesnakes; and/or work around water.
    • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
    • May require working in occasional confrontational situations with project partners, grantees, or members of the public.
    • Expected to multitask, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities in a cooperative manner
    • Expected to attend and participate in meetings with staff of other agencies, and grantees.
    • Travel via automobile or plane to meetings and project sites may be required during project development, management, and/or monitoring; work may involve dealing with a range of traffic conditions.

    The Coastal Conservancy is a state agency that undertakes and supports projects to protect, restore and enhance coastal resources, promote resilience to climate change impacts, and increase opportunities for the public to enjoy the coast.

    The Conservancy works along the entire length of California's coast and within the watersheds of rivers and streams that extend inland from the coast.

    The Conservancy also works throughout the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area and the entire Santa Ana River watershed.

    The Conservancy awards and oversees grants to local governments, other state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and tribes, using various types of funding, including bond funds, federal funds, and mitigation fees.

    The Conservancy is a small agency of 81 dedicated, experienced employees who work collaboratively and creatively to achieve the Conservancy's mission.
